Chapter 6: Serendipity

The soft glow of the television illuminated the small room where Yoongi and Jimin sat together, the only sound coming from the show that had captivated Yoongi's attention. The ambiance was a stark contrast to the loud city noise outside, where the chaotic energy of the concert crowds was still palpable in the air. Now, however, everything felt surreal as Yoongi sat frozen in his seat, entranced by a familiar face on his screen.

"It's her. It's been 5 years since I last saw her... Yuri..." he murmured, his mind racing back to memories long suppressed. The rush of emotions overwhelmed him, a bittersweet mix of nostalgia and longing overshadowing the recent concert success.

Jimin, seated beside him, watched as Yoongi's expression changed from surprise to something heavier, more nostalgic. "Who is she, Hyung?" he asked gently, trying to understand the whirlwind that had swept over his friend.

"She's... someone I used to know," Yoongi finally replied, his eyes glued to the screen. "She's the origin of I will sue you Min Yoongi. She... she always supported me m, US even when things got tough. But the last time I saw her... it was different."

Jimin leaned forward, curiosity piqued. "What happened? You don't have to keep things from me, you know."

Taking a deep breath, Yoongi recalled the bittersweet moments that flooded his memory. "I ran into her by the Han River the day she was supposed to get married. I could see she was crying, and I wanted to understand what was going on. But she never told me anything, after she left I saw a crumpled paper on the bench and that was time i realized that it supposedly the day of her wedding." He rubbed the back of his neck, frustration mingling with sadness.

Jimin felt a twinge of empathy for Yoongi. "That sounds rough, Hyung. But it's been five years. You're now two different people living in different worlds."

"Maybe so," Yoongi whispered, his thoughts still lost in the labyrinth of memories. "But seeing her now, it feels like something I lost is coming back."

"Didn't you say you bumped into her at the airport?" Jimin pushed on gently, wanting to keep his friend anchored to the present. "What happened then?"

Yoongi's face tightened as he recalled the encounter, the sharpness of it still fresh. "I saw her just as I was about to board my flight. We exchanged glances, and for a moment, it felt like no time had passed. But we are on a tight schedule back then and we're on a public place, it didn't feel right. So we just walked away."

"Maybe this is your second chance," Jimin said, his expression resolute. "You should reach out to her, Hyung. What do you have to lose?"

"I don't know, Jimin. It all feels so complicated," Yoongi replied, glancing back towards the television, where Yuri was laughing with the other actors at Jinny's Kitchen. Her laughter seemed to echo in his heart, leaving him both elated and apprehensive.

Suddenly, Taehyung's message chimed in on Yoongi's phone, pulling him from his reverie. "I sent you the clip, Hyung. Just in case. Remember, this isn't just about food. It's about connections." The message left a lingering thought in his mind-connections.

Jimin saw the look on Yoongi's face. "What're you thinking?"

"I need to talk to her. But how?" Frustration seeped through his words.

Would Yuri see him differently now? After everything that had happened between them? He felt the soft tingle of fear that accompanied taking that leap, but more than that, a simmering hope began to brew within him.

The scene shifted on the screen. The vibrant colors of Bacalar's beauty flooded the room as the hosts introduced the next phase of their culinary adventures. It seemed surreal how Jinny's Kitchen was a mere show, yet it was the thread that had just pulled him back to Yuri.

"Look, that place looks a lot like Han River, doesn't it?" Jimin said, a playful grin on his face, trying to lighten the mood. Yoongi managed a small smile, the tension in his shoulders easing.

Just then, another text pinged, shaking Yoongi from his spiraling thoughts. It was Jin: "Don't wait, dongsaeng. Life is too short-act before someone else gets your chance."*

"Looks like Jin is really rooting for you," Jimin remarked teasingly.
