beomgyu had always been a sensitive soul his whole life. though sometimes he came off as a bit overbearing. but even in times like those, it was clear that underneath that careless, fun-loving facade, rested a fragile boy that only wanted to be loved and accepted.

he had been seeking that love and validation he's always craved in every person he met. the sweet boy that loved music and carried his camera everywhere because he wanted to capture every beautiful moment of life and simply wanted to find his people. and when he soon realized that making friends was a lot harder than he had anticipated, he turned to the only other option he felt he had: social media.

what started off as a silly little hobby, soon became so much more as beomgyu now found himself in this warped position that he never really wanted. he had a platform that was growing by the day and along with it, the pressure that came with being an influencer.

now, instead of just being able to freely talk about his loves and interests, he suddenly had a whole different set of rules to abide by. he had to be mindful of every little thing he utters, monitor his actions carefully and practically never set foot wrong.

but the best part, beomgyu would say, about the whole experience was the few friends he made along the way. his fellow influencers that he managed to form a close friendgroup with. although, each of them had vastly different platforms, they all still had appreciation for the other's art.

suddenly, making friends didn't seem all that difficult to the boy. he was having so much fun finally being able to embrace his social side. he just never thought he'd have to one day fear putting his trust in someone else.

as life usually goes, beomgyu soon found himself in love. a girl that he met through huening kai, one of his close friends. beomgyu was a newly started freshman at seoul university, where his two older friends – soobin and yeonjun – also attended. huening kai and taehyun still being high school seniors at that time.

her name was elle. beomgyu vividly remembers the day huening kai introduced the brunette to them. she was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful girls beomgyu had ever laid his eyes upon. just like him, she too was a freshman at his university. kai mentioned meeting her through instagram, where the girl expressed being a huge fan of the tyunning duo.

immediately, all of them welcomed her into their little circle – which in hindsight, probably was an irresponsible decision. she was kind and beautiful and had a dazzling personality that made it practically impossible for one not to fall in love.

and beomgyu fell. he fell hard.

barely, three months after meeting the girl for the first time, beomgyu had asked her to be his girlfriend. she eagerly agreed and beomgyu was happy. in fact, he remembered describing it as the best thing that's ever happened to him.

he had always heard people say that you don't really know a person until after you start dating and beomgyu never understood that until he started dating his new love.

what started off as something new and sweet soon turned depressing and sour. elle had completely shifted from the lovely girl beomgyu and everyone else had grown to adore. that adoration very soon turned to hatred as elle continued unveiling different sides to her.

at first, it was only beomgyu who experienced her ugly side and to the inexperienced boy, it seemed like a normal occurrence that every relationship experienced. but soon, as elle kept her manipulative and ugly attitude, his friends would soon notice it and fall victim to it as well.

for months, beomgyu was stuck in a unhealthy and toxic relationship that he just couldn't get himself out of. even with the help of his friends, he still just couldn't completely get rid of elle.

she was afterall his first love. no matter how ugly their entire relationship was. yet he hated himself for allowing things to get that far. he hated himself for still wanting to see the good in her. he hated that he just couldn't let go when he knew he should have done it a long time ago. he hated himself so much for being so naïve that he never even noticed how manipulative she really was.

he hated that he fell for her in the first place.

after his disastrous first relationship, beomgyu felt ashamed. he didn't want his friends or supporters to be too worried about him. which is why he had decided to simply not show or talk about his feelings. he knew his friends, kai specifically, were all also trying to deal with the aftermath of the hurricane elle sent through their lives.

months later, he still finds himself being questioned about elle every now and then and every time he has to deal with old wounds being scratched open once again. that was until one gloomy tuesday afternoon when beomgyu felt he was at his lowest. he was in his second year of university now, completely opposite from the boy he was when he set foot on campus for the first time a year ago.

he just needed a quick caffeine fix before tackling his heaps of work he had waiting for him on his desk. but never in the whirlwind that was his life did he expect it to suddenly get a tiny bit more colorful the moment he was about to leave the busy café.
