I stood at the edge of the beach, watching the waves crash against the shore. The rain poured down in sheets, drenching my clothes and my hair- but I didn't mind. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the cool drops splash against my face. The sound of the ocean was soothing, a feeling of tranquillity rushed over me as I breathed in and out.

I opened my eyes and looked over the horizon, where the sky met the sea in a blur of grey. Everything around me was a blur of =water and sand, but somehow I still felt grounded.

I stood back as I noticed a black shape moving in the distance. I then squinted my eyes and to my surprise it was a crow! It was perched gracefully on the rocks near the water, it also didn't seem to mind the waves crashing up against the rocks and getting sprayed with the watery mist.

You don't really see crows so often at the beach, especially just one... I thought, maybe it was a bad omen.

I decided to turn around and walk away and I felt the rain beat against my back.

I walked briskly away from the beach with my eyes fixed on the ground. I couldn't shake the feeling of the crows eyes of my back.

I turned around and suddenly heard a rustling noise behind, expecting to see a bird. And of course to my surprise, it was still following me.

I picked up my pace and felt the urge to run.

I could hear the crows wings speeding up and flapping to the same speed of me running.

I felt my heart beat rising in my chest as a sense of dread and fear started to come over me.

It started cawing at me, but eventually they turned to aggressive squawks and hisses, a lot of its feathers were falling from it.

Suddenly, everything was getting blurry, my head was dizzy, I the sand started to cave in and I felt as if it was trying to drag me into it.

I thought it would be a great idea to try and grip on to the sand to hoist me up, it wasn't until I realised that wasn't going to be any use for me.

All I could see and focus on was the crow squawking at me in distress above me.

That was when I realised the bad omen wasn't the crow... it was something much bigger.

I suddenly woke up from my dream in cold sweats, panting and gripping on to my sheets. I laid there for a minute or two, looking around.

I felt a sense of relief yet stupidity when I realised I was back in my room and I can see the lavender floral wall paper around me. I look over to the right of my room and notice that my white vanity dresser was still there and had the majority of my belongings slung on to it.

I slowly hoisted myself up out of bed and sat on the edge.

I still had that feeling of dread with me because of my vivid dream. I brushed my hands through my hair and sighed deeply. I looked over to the far left of my room and realised I had a bunch of art work and books scattered around the floor.

Crap.

I think to myself, I then looked at the time and realised it was six in the morning and realised I had to be in school in less than two hours. I groaned out of frustration and suddenly flinched as I heard from the other side my door banging and my father's voice telling me to get out of bed and get ready if I wanted a lift to school.

It's your typical family house hold, mom works as a nurse, my father works in the civil services although he never really told me what his job role specifically entails for him- but whatever it is it makes us comfortable to get by.
