Dwaine.

I woke up to a dull ache in my head. Immediately I remember what happened and I realize that Im now in a hospital bed. Youre awake Mr. Soto. The doctor beside me states. I was connected to an I.V and I could still feel the headache.

Mama I said in fear.

Your mother is fine. She was just reacting to shock.

And my sister? She gulped before answering.

Your sister is a fighter. She flatlined on us earlier today but shes fine. Your brother is here as a temporary guardian.

Joel? I asked confused.

No Mr. Soto Jr.

Can I go see my mom?

Sure, but you might want to take it easy for now. You had a concussion and suffered an anxiety attack

Wait. My sister was just brought in today, what do you mean she flatlined earlier today?

Youve been passed out for almost twenty-four hours.

That kept me quiet for the rest of the day. I did see mama and she was still very silent Soto told me it was the shock. His wife, Kyoko, had to go home with the kids because it was getting late. We all agreed to stay at the family beach hose till it all blows over and Aolani can handle being in that house again.

Are you okay bud? Soto asks as I go back to my hospital room to get checked and discharged. Im fine. I just got worked up again and everything was too loud. I couldnt concentrate on my breathing at that point. His eyes stare into mine as if reading my soul. Soto was always good at reading peoples emotions. One look in your eyes and he says everything that you will refuse to say.

The last time it happened we almost lost you. I want you to remember what I taught you when its too loud. Hold your hands over your ears and breath. Okay?

The last time it happened I was having a swim meet and the other team pushed the dividers to hit me. I nearly drowned. But what didnt help was my issue with noisy areas. I forget how to breath, and everything feels suffocating. A fight broke out and I was in the middle of it -literally- and nobody noticed me gasping for air on the floor till I had passed out. The doctor said that I should steer clear of loud or sudden noises. Ive been able to control it up until yesterday.

I was checked and now in the waiting room waiting for mom to be discharged with the rest of my family.

The Soto family? A doctor says slightly jogging up to us. Soto got up. Thats us.

We have a slight problem.

Is Lani, okay?

Shes fine. Its your father. We froze. To be honest he was dealing with more than we all are. Though I ignored it, I knew that guilt was eating him up. He was in the house and Lani was his baby and that happened to her while he was in the house.

What happened to him? Joel asked getting up too.

Your father attempted suicide. He was found by a member of staff hanging from a lamppost. We were able to revive him, but he slipped into a coma shortly after. I would suggest your mother is not made aware of this to prevent worsening her condition, but I will keep you updated as we progress.

I look behind her to see mom now supporting herself with the wall. She had heard and that worsened everyones condition as we watched our mother for the second time fall to the floor.
