The next day, Wei Ying wished good morning to Granny Wen and Wen Ning (not Wen Qing though) as he sauntered into his office as both Granny Wen and Wen Ning curiously glanced at them.

Wei Ying started scribbling on the blank page of his sketchbook. Wei Ying was good at designing, for his designs had been approved by many clients before. Wei Ying wanted to design the banquet hall himself, for the upcoming LAN Wedding. But the design wasn't up to par, so he tore the page and, crumbling it into a ball, hurled it into a trash can.

An hour later, he still wasn't faring any better. His trash can was slowly and steadily filling up with many paper balls. So, finally bored and frustrated, he started doodling at random.

Sometime later, there was a knock on his door, and Wen Qing, tentatively, entered his office and sat on the chair opposite him.

"Wen Qing,"

"Wei Ying,"

Wei Ying glared dagger at Wen Qing, while Wen Qing, daringly, held his gaze for a long time. Neither of them wanted to be the first to admit defeat. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Wen Qing looked down first.

"Why are you drawing Lan Wangji?" Wen Qing asked, snapping her head up to look at Wei Ying.

"What..." Wei Ying spluttered. He hadn't realized that, absentmindedly, he had been drawing a portrait of Lan Wangji.

"Oh, this!" Wei Ying exclaimed. "The sample of the wedding invitations didn't turn out as striking, so I was trying my hands at designing it myself. I want a drawing of both the groom and the bride on it. First, I will draw Lan Zhan. Next will be Mianmian," Wei Ying lied as he had loved the design of the wedding invitation sample, he had received in the mail this morning. He had lied because he was scared that Wen Qing would find out about his deep, hidden desire. Wen Qing didn't look utterly convinced, but didn't drag the conversation further.

"Are you here to apologize to me, Wen Qing?" Wei Ying snapped at Wen Qing.

"No. I'm not here to apologize for shit," Wen Qing retorted, then heaved a long sigh as Wei Ying cocked an eyebrow at her.

Wen Qing stood up and walked up to the farthest corner away from Wei Ying, which wasn't that far considering how small the office was, and leaned on the wall.

"Wei Ying, I'm sorry about yesterday. I'm sorry that I called you intolerable," Wen Qing said.

"You weren't that further off from the truth, though. I'm quite insufferable," Wei Ying tried to lighten the mood.

"True, but not the full truth. You are unbearable, and yet anyone would be lucky to have you in their life. It would be their privilege to call you theirs. You are annoying, but also sweet and kind and funny," Wen Qing said with a smile, at once melting Wei Ying's heart.

"I'm sorry about yesterday too, Wen Qing. How are you though? Sorry about not checking on you," Wei Ying asked, genuinely worried about his best friend.

"I'm fine. I was quite upset yesterday. Then, Mianmian called to check on me. She's so sweet, you know," Wen Qing smiled at the memory, but the smile dropped as soon as it popped up. "Anyway, after her call, I felt better,"

That bitch, Wei Ying screamed internally. Mianmian never called him to check on him. She only called Wen Qing. Does she not like me?

"I'm glad you are doing better," Wei Ying said.

Wen Qing folded herself in half, and crouched down on the floor, heaving a defeating sigh. "This is not fair, you know," Wen Qing began, but stopped as her voice cracked. Wei Ying's heart hurt to see her like that.
