nine; late night calls

it was later that night when you lay flat on your bed, exhausted from the day you had that mainly consisted of friends, cleaning, and planning.

bored, you peered down at your phone wondering what you could do to make the night better. you weren't exactly tired yet, but the moment was so boring you could easily fall asleep in a few minutes - though you didnt want to.

your eyebrows lifted and jaw fell agape as a loud lightbulb sparked in your head while fumbling your fingers around on your phone.

that was the moment you remembered you had added the one you had been hoping to connect with earlier that day. you opened your snapchat app to see his little bitmoji smiling at you while hesitating to click on it.

you were hesitant well, because, first of all - your main goal was to get close to him. answering the tiny voices in your head screaming at you to text him could easily help you reach that goal, just as fast as they could destroy it. texting the latter could either lead to a good scenario or bad one, depending on the circumstances he had been ignoring you under. if he was ignoring you because he was just nervous - completely understandable. but there was also a slight chance that he was ignoring you because he just flat out didn't like you.

heck, the reason you even wanted to be close to the latter in the first place was to find out who he was. if he hadn't had been so ignorant and shy the first day you met him, you probably wouldn't even care. and that was the sad reality. he was playing a
mind game on you, whether he realized it or not. it was something you couldn't control - the urge that felt like a huge magnet to figure him out. and that's what bothered you. he's just like anyone else. why were you so concerned about him? even you couldn't answer the question yourself.

you sighed as you brought your thumb to the top center of the screen to tap on the newly added boy, and shortly after started typing.

you managed to muster up a small word, "hey" typed out on your keyboard, anxious to press send. you took a deep breath and finally pressed the button.

after waiting for a response, it took a few minutes for the latter to do so, but surely he did.

you
hey

hyunjin
hello

you
are you busy?

hyunjin
no, not really. why?

you
can we call?

hyunjin
sure

*:・゚✧*:・゚

you surely didn't expect that answer, but a light grin spread across your face as soon as you read that word.

you clicked the call button, cringing at the sound of the rings that were going on for quite a few seconds before the line suddenly fell silent and you could hear the other's background audio.

you breathed in a deep breath, trying not to think about the possible outcomes that crossed your mind earlier. "hello?" you spat out finally, after a few seconds of the unbearable silence.

"h-hi" a voice from the other line said.

you soon exhaled a breath of relief as you were happy about the fact that he actually answered you this time.
