Prompt:
Fluffy friends to lovers trope.

Story:
Louis and Harry have been best friends since they were kids. They've always been close, but lately, something has changed. They can't help but cuddle each other whenever they're together.

It started innocently enough, just a friendly hug here and there, but now they find themselves cuddling on the couch while watching movies or holding hands while walking down the street.

Their other friends have started to notice and they're starting to grow suspicious. They make jokes about them being a couple or tease them about how much they touch each other. Louis and Harry try to brush it off, insisting that they're just close friends, but the teasing continues.

One day, the two boys are hanging out with their friends at the park. They're lying in the grass, enjoying the warm sun on their faces, when Louis absent-mindedly starts playing with Harry's hair. Harry leans into the touch and before they know it, they're cuddling in the grass.

Their friends start laughing and making comments, saying things like "get a room" and "you guys are so in love".

Louis and Harry are embarrassed, but they don't want to stop cuddling each other. They try to explain that it's just a comfort thing, that they're not in love, but their friends don't believe them. They start to feel like they're being judged for their close relationship.

Eventually, Louis and Harry have a heart-to-heart and realize that they do have romantic feelings for each other.

"I don't want to lose you as my best friend," Harry confessed to Louis. "But I can't ignore the way I feel about you."

"I feel the same way," Louis replied, a shy smile on his face. "I don't want to lose you either."

They decide to give a relationship a try, but they know it won't be easy.

They're worried about how their friends will react and whether they'll be accepted. But they know that they can't deny their feelings for each other any longer.

One evening, while they were all hanging out at Harry's house, one of their friends, Niall, asked them outright if they were gay. Louis and Harry froze, not sure how to respond.

Harry felt slightly conflicted on what to say, as he wasn't sure of what reactions he would get from their friends. He realised that true friendship relies on trust, comfort and acceptance, so if his friends didn't accept his and Louis' relationship, then so be it. The two boys don't need that negativity in their lives as long as they would have each other.

Finally, after an agonising moment of silence, Louis spoke up and said, "Yeah, we are. Is that a problem?"

After their brief but shoulder-lifting confession, the group of friends started bombarding the two with questions and statements.

"How long have you been together?"

"I knew it!"

"Sorry about the teasing, didn't realise it was that serious."

"I mean, it was already pretty obvious, but congratulations!"

After all the bickering within the group and answering the questions, they all continued watching the movie without the relentless teasing. Harry snuggled up next to Louis, resting his head on the boys chest. Louis wrapped his arm around Harry's shoulders, and they settled into a comfortable cuddle.

The other friends subtly watched on in silence, but the jokes towards the two had settled down by that point so the two stopped feeling self conscious from the stares.

Later on in the evening after they all left Harry's house, Louis stayed back and they made their way up to Harry's room where they would spend the rest of their night together. Platonically, and innocently of course.

As they cuddled together on Harry's bed, the two boys felt safe and happy in each other's arms. They didn't care what anyone else thought as long as they had each other.
