|GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER|
NKOSINGIPHILE
"Good morning," she said without turning around from the stove. "How did you know?" I asked. "I could smell you," she said turning around and placed a plate in front of me. "Ngiyabonga mkami," I said. "What's your schedule like today?" she asked. "What did you have in mind?" I asked taking the first bite of my food. "A date night kind of thing, we haven't spent much time together," she replied. "Sure, why not. Do you have a place in mind or?" I asked
"Yeah. I'll cook, you bring wine."
"7:00 good for you?" I asked and she rolled her eyes. "It's not like I have other things to do," she said. "Manje uphenqela mina amehlo, MaZondi?" I asked and she laughed.
"Of course not."
"Mhmm."
I quickly finished my food and she took the plate away and put it in the sink- which I know is going to be where it stays until someone from the cleaning company comes in. "Don't forget, cleaners are coming in today," I said and she sighed. "Mina MaZondi uyangixaka. You don't want the cleaners here but nokucleana uyakuqena," I said and she smiled.
"Awu?"
"Ngempela. K'mele uyobona labo dokotela bokuhlanya."
"Usholo ukuthi ngiyahlanya mina Nkosi?"
"Hawu cha, ngingaze ngifele amacleaner. Ngiyakuthanda s'thandwa sami, bye." I said and leaned in for a kiss. "Bye," she said before fixing my already straight tie. "I love you, Bhengu," she said earnestly. "I love you more, Nondaba," I said and she blushed like she always does when I call her by her clan names. Women."Baba said he wants the Gregory Properties' account," Melusi said barging into my office. "Sawubona nawe Melusi. Do you see the previously closed door you just walked through? Please go back, knock on it and wait for me to say come in," I said and he sighed. "Nkosi, I'm serious," he said. "Nami angidlali," I said and he sighed again. He turned around and closed the door. After a few seconds I heard him knock. "Who is it?" I asked. "Really? It's Melusi," he said. "Ufunani?" I asked. "Really Nkosi-" he started. "Ngena," I said and he walked in rolling his eyes. "Can I have the file then?" he asked. "Nandi is already on the way to him with it," I said. "Really Nkosi?" he asked sitting down and I shrugged. "Wahlala phansi manje? Do you not have work to do?" I asked. "Eyi awukahle. Your sister in law is giving me a headache," he said and I laughed. "What have you done this time?" I asked. "Did you not hear me? She's giving me a headache," he said. "Ehhe, you must have done something," I said and he glared at me. "Mxm. Whatever. How's Swazi?" he asked. "Usukwazi ukumbiza ngegama?" I asked. "She insists I do," he said. "She's good," I said. "How did the talk at UKZN go?" he asked and my mind immediately went to Lihle. "It was fine, I'm definitely not thinking of doing a career change," I said. "I also saw Lihle again," I blurted out dismissively to fill the slightly uncomfortable silence. "Lihle?" he asked, his interest piqued. "Yeah, the girl from the other night," I said. "Oh the 'is your shoe okay, nkosazane' girl," he said laughing and I rolled my eyes. I tell my brothers everything but sometimes I wish they weren't idiots. "Hambo sebenza mfana," I said and he opened his mouth to protest. "Ayi, hamba Melusi," I said and he sighed before leaving. Idiot. I smiled as I thought of Lihle, she has a sharp mind and an even sharper tongue, law definitely suits her. I feel stupid and guilty, why am I smiling over a child when I'm married. I'm certainly happy with Swazi, but something about Lihle draws me in and makes me want to know her. She's a challenge- an exciting one- that I want to explore in more ways than one. Get your shit together, Nkosingiphile and stop drooling over a child.
