Behind her, Duanmu Zhengjie was contemplating and reaching some conclusions unknown to Bian Yingning.
The Bian family's industries typically held more than two exchange meetings every year. The previous owner never missed a single one, to the extent that many managers and higher-ups in the stores knew who their young boss was.
As Bian Yingning walked in with an indifferent demeanor, the waiter hadn't even approached her before a manager, whose smile was as bright as flowers, squeezed past and said, "Young Boss! How come you have the time to come here today? You didn't even give us a heads-up. We haven't prepared anything yet!"
This was giving her face. Bian Yingning smiled gracefully, "No need to rush. I was in the area visiting a friend and just wanted to have lunch here."
"Oh, this is my older sister, Duanmu. From now on, when you see her coming to eat, greet her like you would greet my father, you know?"
Duanmu Zhengjie: "?"
So, in other words, she's equivalent to her father?
"Alright, alright. Miss Duanmu, hello!" The manager greeted Duanmu Zhengjie readily.
Duanmu Zhengjie nodded without saying a word.
"So, Boss, are you going inside? There happens to be a private room available."
"I'm not going to sit in a private room. I'll just order a few dishes to go. Bring me the menu." Bian Yingning glanced at the situation in the restaurant. Business was thriving, and there were hardly any empty seats.
"Sure, sure." The manager brought the menu, and Bian Yingning asked Duanmu Zhengjie to choose.
Since they were getting takeout, it wouldn't be appropriate to order a full banquet. Duanmu Zhengjie ordered a portion of corn and bone soup with rice, along with crispy goose and seasonal vegetables. After flipping through the menu, Bian Yingning decided to have a simple stir-fried beef noodles for herself.
Although it was a bit dry, she hadn't eaten it in a long time and was craving it.
The manager looked hesitant when he saw Duanmu Zhengjie order the beef hor fun. "Boss, the chef who's best at making stir-fried beef noodles is on leave today. The other chefs might only be able to make it 80% as good. I hope you don't mind."
Although it would only differ by two points in taste, Bian Yingning had discerning taste. The manager was afraid that she would be dissatisfied and complain later, so he wanted to address the issue in advance.
Bian Yingning was scanning the restaurant and, upon hearing his words, glanced at the menu. "It's alright. I'll personally cook one for my sister."
Duanmu Zhengjie was stunned. "You... can do that?"
This genuinely caught her off guard.
Initially, she wanted to say that it didn't matter who cooked it as long as it was edible, and she wasn't picky. However, she didn't expect Bian Yingning to insist on cooking it herself.
"Miss Duanmu, you don't know. Our young boss's culinary skills are no worse than the head chef in our restaurant. She can casually go to any restaurant and be a pillar of support." The manager skillfully flattered her.
Bian Yingning's lips curled up. "Alright, alright, stop with the flattery. I've just learned a bit more from staying in the restaurant."
The Bian family's founder was originally a chef. Later, he seized the opportunity to open his own restaurant, which became prosperous and expanded from food to lodging, combining the two.
