Corina stared at Kai, hate plain in her features. He had his hands shoved into his pockets, his shoulders hunched, and a vulnerable look on his face. He wore a pair of lighter blue jeans and a white v neck. He was handsome, Corina had to admit, but the way he thought of himself was a pain in the neck. He, however, looked less full of himself that day.
She frowned. "I can walk myself, Kai."
His back straightened when she said his name. "I know I just... I feel better knowing you got into your car safely." This reminded her that she hadn't really called a cab. She had figured she would just hail one when she got outside, but if Kai was standing there, she would feel... out of place. "Maybe I should rephrase what I said before. May I walk you out, Ms. Sokolov?"
Corina was taken aback by this. What the hell was he doing? Sure, initially, she'd told him she preferred it if he called her Ms. Sokolov, but he had made himself at home calling her Corina. She'd kind of gotten used to the fact that he wasn't going to obey her wishes, so why was he starting now? And asking if he could walk her out? "What?"
He held out a hand towards her. "Come on," He said. nodding his head towards the door. "At least let me walk you to the elevator then."
Corina's brow furrowed, but she reached out and took his hand, and the room was so silent, Corina wasn't even sure the others were breathing as Kai led her across the dorm towards the front door.
She stopped, bending to fix her shoes onto her feet, but Kai had squatted and taken hold of one of her ankles. She nearly fell over, and quickly steadied herself with the help of the wall beside her as Kai slid on of her feet into her heels, and then the other. He slid his feet easily into a pair of Jordans and stood, shaking his hair away from his eyes and then reaching for Corina's hand again as he opened the door, leading her out into the hall.
"Why are you holding my hand?" Corina asked, following behind him.
When she asked this, he came to a stop and turned to face her, looking down at their joined hands as if he hadn't noticed they were holding hands in the first place. "Oh," He said, letting go of her hands. "I guess I just-"
"Are you trying to be smooth?" Corina immediately shouted, and Kai's face twisted into confused annoyance. "It's not working, okay? So you can cut the act."
He scowled. "I'm not acting!"
"I wouldn't call that acting either," She said, laughing in a mean way. "It was terrible. Good thing you're an idol, not an actor."
He rolled his eyes. "Can we just go? Please?" He asked, turning his back to her and starting towards the elevator. She frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. When Kai stopped and pressed the elevator button, he seemed to realize she hadn't joined him and turned before pointing to the space beside him. "Let's go. If you're not going to respond to me being kind, I can be demanding."
She rolled her eyes. "How about I just don't respond?"
"You just did." He said matter-of-factly. She pursed her lips, and he groaned. "Corina, come on," She didn't move, and she didn't say a word.
