A storm rages across the sky, like a dragon unleashing its mighty breath on its enemies. Thunder stems from the clouds, rushing to the ground at great speed and striking the ground with unparalleled force. Chidori, a young boy, no older than five cowards underneath his blank, hearing the lightning.
A hand is placed on his back from his older brother, Raikiri. The seven year old rubs his back and tells him "Hey, it's ok."
Chidori pulled the blanket over his head and looked at his brother with his blue eyes that faded to purple. "Are you sure?" the juvenile asked his eldest brother.
Looking back at him with his eyes that were purple that faded to blue, he answered "Of course. I'm here and I'm going to protect you."
Thunderstruck once more, flashing through their window, lighting up their wooden room and their dark blue mixed with black hair. Hearing the strike, Chidori thrust himself into Raikiri's chest and wrapped his arms around the young boy.
Raikiri held his brother close and softly petted his head, running his fingers through Chidori's hair. "It's ok. It's ok," he softly told his brother.
Suddenly, the door to their room opened. A woman with dark blue hair peaked in, her purple eyes looking at them. "Is everything ok?" she asked.
Chidori pulled his head away from Raikiri's chest and looked at their mother. "N-no," he answered, tears rolling down his face.
Raikiri kept patting his head. "But it'll be fine," Raikiri told her.
"Are you sure?" she asked them.
"Of course," he answered.
"If you say so," she replied before closing the door.
Raikiri looked at his still-crying brother and asked, "Want me to stay in bed with you?"
"P-please," he said.
Chidori moved over and Raikiri got in bed with him and lay down, still holding his brother. Chidori slightly hated this. He wanted to be big and strong and not rely on others but he couldn't help but stick with his brother and seek the strength stemming from him. But for now, he wasn't going to complain. Fear was flowing through him to the point where he could barely take it.
Raikiri cared greatly for his brother and always sought to comfort him. Since the day Chidori was born, Raikiri has always felt close to him and never wants to see him in pain. It was rough, due to storms being something that Raikiri but he must suffer for now to let his brother seek the comfort he needed at the moment.
"You ok?" Raikiri asked him.
"Y-yeah," Chidori replied.
"Good," he said while still holding him.
As Raikiri held his brother close, their mother walked down the hall to her and her husband's room. She opened the door and saw her husband already in bed, waiting for her. "You're back," he stated as she shut the door behind her.
"Yeah, just wanted to check up on the boys," she said while pushing her hair back and reaching the bed, and getting her lower body under the sheets. "You know how Chidori gets when there is a storm."
"Yeah, but he has Raikiri with him, he'll be fine," the father stated.
"True, but I still worry," she retorted.
"Fair enough," he replied before thinking for a moment. "Actually..." he pulled the blanket off himself and planted his feet on the floor before standing up.
