Chapter 5: Nightmares

I awoke screaming and trembling. Yukkii and Yuno ran into the room with a knife each. I looked at them. "Just another bad dream" I told them. They took one last look at me, said goodnight and then disappeared.

That was the 2nd nightmare tonight and the 23rd this week. I couldn't help but notice that Yuno looked terrified every time she saw me.

I awoke but this time it was because a harsh light was shining onto my face. I covered my eyes and looked around. Yuno had drawn the curtains and was about to open the window. "Oh morning, did I wake you?" Yuno said. "Yeah but I probably should get up now anyway" I replied getting up slowly. "Hey 5th, may I ask what you see in your nightmares?" Yuno started "You haven't told us yet". I stared at the ground awkwardly and after a long pause, I spoke. "I see you, Yuno" I looked up to her face. Her once bright pink eyes now filled with fear. "Why is this happening to me!?" I yelled with a crazed expression. She broke her gaze and stared at the floor, her mind clearly racing. "What am I doing? in your dreams I mean" Yuno said. "You're digging a hole. Athen randomly you're on the verge of death in so many different situations. It's strange, they seem more like memories rather than nightmares". I said with every effort to recall the past 3 nights. Yuno left the room gesturing for me to follow her. I got up and did a half run half walk to catch up.

We walked down the hall a bit before Yuno stopped at a sliding door. It had tape and scratches all over it. "Curious?" Yuno asked. "Y-yeah I guess" I replied. I wasn't curious about the things on the door, I was more excited to see what was behind it. Yuno opened the door and let me take the first look. It was exactly as I saw it in the dream. A hole. A giant hole that looked like there was no end. "Wh-what the hell!" I shouted. "You recognise this?" Yuno said calmly. "Y-yeah! And you dug it!". I sounded more excited than surprised which felt strange, even for me. "I feel like you're connected to us somehow..." Yuno said quietly "That day at the school I knew I couldn't kill you because my diary said I wouldn't". At that moment my diary made the horrible static sound and so did Yuno's. She smiled as I pulled out my diary. I didn't get to read it. I started falling down, down, down...
