I watch the moon as its blue aurora glows upon the shimmering ocean. Each wave drives in its own pattern before clashing with the seaside. The more I glare out into the infinite abyss of troubled water, i begin to wonder. A euphoric feeling twinkles up my spine at the thought of floating endlessly. Not a worry in the world. Nothing but the sea and God's majestic creatures to guide me to an unknown destination.
Somehow, I find myself just past the water's edge, my toes touching the graces of moisture. No control. I feel myself being pulled by the moon. It calls to me.
One step. Two steps, I have no control over my body. The seawater brushed against my knees, and foam skated down my blouse from the impact of powerful waves. Three steps. Four steps. My hips shuddered from the fierce icy waters, but i couldn't stop. The majestic glow continued to call me. The wind blew past my ear as if to whisper, telling me salvation wasn't far away.
Five steps. Six steps. Saltwater rose above my abdomen soon, I would be fully submerged, yet i couldn't stop; the call became more robust to the point of no resistance. For a brief second, i thought i saw a man standing far out. Was it God, my savior? Has he come to take me to heaven?Seven steps. Eight steps. My neck was splashed by the frigid mass. I shuddered and closed my eyes. When i opened them, the man was gone, But the call became more vigorous, so I pressed on.
Nine steps. Ten steps. My toes felt nothing underneath them. I kicked to stay afloat so air could enter and exit my lungs.
I could have been a proficient swimmer if i took the lessons seriously. To keep going, I had to lay on my back and float. Without any effort, the waves graced me deeper and deeper until i couldn't see land anymore.
The stars above shined brightly. They gave a distinguished glow that i had never seen before. The more I watched, I began to notice creatures formed by the stars. Birds, Fish, Humans, and the last appeared to be an elk, maybe a deer.
I drifted so far away from the sounds of roaring waters that it was almost silent. My body felt light, and I floated with no effort.
Next to me, something nudged me. I slowly turned my head and was star-struck.
A massive whale swam next to me, and i had no idea he was there til now. The moonlight bounced off of the Whale's skin beautifully. I couldn't look away; it was eye candy.
Before I knew it, the Whale had swum under me and risen, taking me out of the water. I quickly turned over to balance myself on the Whale's back. The Whale screeched Elegant sounds of joy and tried to look up at me with gorgeous green eyes.
I sat on the Whale's back and let him take me deeper into dimly lit darkness.
Up ahead, the man stood on the water again, cast by the moon's shadows.
He called to me. But why?
Am I unique in God's eye? Am I his child? I don't deserve to be blessed with his presence.
As we approached, the man didn't disappear. He stood his ground.
The Whale submerged under the water, causing me to get back in, but something was off. I was standing.
The man looked at me and held out a hand.
I hesitated to grab it.
Who is this?
I grabbed it.
Together we walked on the water for what seemed like hours. The man never said a word or acknowledged my existence once we started walking.
Soon I heard the crashing of the waves once more. The man had led me back to the shore but why?
On the shore, a person lay on their back. The man approached the person and motioned for me to join him. When I looked down, I became lost for words. It was me. In my hand, an empty bottle of pills.
Did I.
Did I kill myself?
A hand softly grabbed my shoulder. In my ear, I heard.
"Come with me, my child. I will save you."
Everything became bright around me. When I blinked, I stood near an iron gate amongst the clouds.
The man stood in front of the gate and smiled at me.
"The Gates of heaven await you."
