Unknown POV
So this was it:
Dusky amber sunset. As I strolled along, I could feel the soft, smooth sand beneath my feet. I was taken in by the soothing atmosphere that encircled me.
I was comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves repressing all of my worries.
I watched with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingered in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds, dyeing the heavens first orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that was left of the sunset was a chalky mauve, and then that melted away in turn as stygian darkness took over the sky.
Almost perfection.
Life for me could never be perfect.
There was nothing that could change my destiny as a Guardian.
Looking to my right, I could see rows and rows of beach houses.
I scoff, "More like beach mansions."
Each mansion had it's own olympic style swimming pool, even though the beach was a 10 min walk away.
On this summer night, one particular room of one of the mansions caught my attention. I could just barely make out a silhouette of an 11 year old girl.
That was her.
I could feel her aura pulsate through my bones, shaking me to the core.
How could someone so young and naive possess such great powers?
Then it happened.
The sky which was scattered with millions of sequin-like stars just moments ago, soon became hidden under huge black clouds, heavy with rain. The rain doesn't just fall - it is driven, hard, merciless, torrential.
The rain hit my skin like it would go right through and the waves from the ocean roared relentlessly. Frantic, I slid my hood back on and ran towards her house.
Just as I was about to jump up onto her balcony and into her room, I was forced to stop in my tracks. Her mother had just slapped her.
Outside, everything was back to its usual tranquil and serene self.
Satisfied, I leapt off her balcony walked away, with my hands shoved deep into the pockets of my jeans.
