Levi Ackerman was seen as cold by most people at first, including me, because he was pretending to be after all. I was never one of those people who really thought he had no heart, no, on the contrary, I always realized that there was probably more behind his mask when I first saw him, but shamefully I have to admit that I only looked at the exterior in the beginning.
The handsome, heroic Captain Levi, who bravely and with all his strength tries to save humanity day after day.
The embarrassing truth is that I even read my first Levi fanfiction before I knew about the existence of Attack on Titan. It was a Merman Levi x Reader fanfiction. I read this story a hundred times because I liked it so much, without having the slightest idea about the anime.
Anyway, there were many things that struck me about Levi when I first saw him. One of these things was his kindness. It may be hard to see at first, as levi is a man of silent actions, but he is probably one of the most kind-hearted people in the manga.
My first example is the fact that he took Isabel in with him and Farlan. He saved her life and became her big bro.

Life in the underground is hard even as an independent adult and with a partner (in this case Farlan, since he and Levi worked and lived together). But despite that, he took it upon himself to help her and take care of her.
A man with no kind heart would never do that.
Second example. Levi gives Petra's patch to Dieter and tells him that it is that of his deceased friend.

Levi really is such a well-written character with a big heart. And if you give him a chance, you get to see that. Like I said, in the beginning you just see the cold-hearted ass who has a constant grim and annoyed expression on his face. But underneath is an emotional man whose heart is in the right place.
Petra's patch was certainly important to him. No, not because he was in love with her, as some people think, but because he takes the patches of every one of his comrades – or at least the ones he can find – and hides them well in his office.
That he gave that up just to make a random comrade's heartbreak a little easier instead of his own shows again how selfless he is.
Despite what many people think of him, Levi is without question one of the good ones. A man who had all the right to let his bad experiences turn him into a bitter, revenge-seeking bastard. But instead he decided to take all his pain and use it to help others.
I know he hates himself and is therefore not a fan of the title, but for me and probably most fans, Levi is a true hero. He has one of the kindest hearts in the entire series and I recommend everyone to give him a chance before he or she becomes prejudiced.
