Narrator pov: Melissa was currently at her annual therapy session with her doctor, progress was slowly but surely getting better for her overtime. She's had a lot of help with her older cousin Alexander who she also refers to as Alex or Al. He's been there through it all during the time her parents died which Melissa is so grateful for. Alex sat next to Melissa while she was rummaging through her book bag to find a notebook she's been keeping notes in. The doctor always told her "at every end of each session, always write a positive note about yourself or with every progress you make. You'll see over time that you have accomplished another day". In the notebook held many affirmations that was very pleasing, some not so pleasing.

Alex looked over her shoulder and said "ahhhh so this is what you've been making her doc! Haha good choice. At least it's raising her spirits which is all I want for her"

The Doctor looked at him, bombastic side eye!
Melissa rolled her eyes and smiled at Alex's remark. She showed the doctor her notes and waited patiently for him to come to a conclusion.

Sighing, Alex got up and asked "Man this is boring! I'll wait for you outside Melissa, you want a soda?" Melissa shook her head and smiled at him sweetly "No Im fine Al, thanks." Alex smiled back and left the room freely romancing the halls.

"Well Melissa, it seems you really have put my words in to consideration! I'm very pleased indeed. Your progress is making a phenomenal recovery over the last few years you have been with me. You really have grown mentally." The doctor smiles warmly.

Melissa grins from ear to ear jumping in her seat trying not to squeal or cry all at once. "I've learned...so much from just listening to you and taking notes each day of the time of me being here. I thank you for everything Doctor."

"Of course. That's what I'm here for, just keep making those positive affirmations in the notebook and you'll see that once day you wouldn't even need it anymore to uplift you." The doctor remarks.

"Okay, thank you again doctor. I'll be taking my leave now" Melissa saids getting up to walk to the door. "Have a great rest of your day Melissa" the doctor finishes before going straight to his desk to work on paperwork.

Melissa walks out in the halls to find Alex playing with his Nintendo D.S. focusing on a level of Lego Indiana Jones game. Chewing on his gum ferociously, Alex hyper fixates on the level he could never beat. Melissa approaches him sneakily with a mischievous grin, planning a sneak attack to scare her own cousin when suddenly she trips on her shoelace knocking her off balance.

Alex notices in his peripheral that Melissa is face first on the floor and pauses his game. "Aye yo cuz, what are you doing on the floor? You ready to go though, Im hungry." As he saids walking towards to exits leaving her still on the floor looking up at him embarrassed and annoyed.

'Welp this is what I get for bringing my big cousin here with me to therapy'  Melissa thought to herself getting up.

"I swear Al, I think you're full of bad luck or something every time we hang out, even as kids I always got hurt falling on my ass or in trouble. " Melissa said
"What are you talking about? I'm the best of the best! I don't carry bad luck, I carry    Me, myself, and I!" Alex added proudly, Beating his chest and flexing his traps.
Melissa giggled and rolled her eyes from her cousins humorous remarks. They always had their way of making her feel better too. Al has always been the one to protect her through everything. Even when her parents fought late nights whenever he stayed over when they were kids. He was always there to stop the tears from falling from her innocent eyes. Alex treated Melissa like a younger sister and that's what's she always wanted.

They walked in the parking lot to Alex's car talking about random things coming to mind and deciding on where to eat. As they gain closer, Alex's unlocks his doors with his key chains and opens the door for Melissa. She gladly goes in but suddenly drops her notebook with a couple of loosely pages waving in the wind to a different direction towards another car not far from them. Melissa doesn't notice and picks up her notebook to close her door as they gain their way towards their next destination.

The loosely pages whooshes towards the cars rear view mirror of Veronica inside. She fiercely grabs her steering wheel until her knuckles turn white. Infuriating with anger after stalking Melissa walking with an unknown man beside her. Veronica was overcome with jealousy and hate, her eyes popped out and her breathing quickened. Punching the horn and causing a disturbance with other passersby looking in her direction, grabbing their children. She would not stand for this. 'How could she do this!?' Veronica thought to herself. But why is she getting to her head!? What makes her so infatuated with Melissa? Why is she going out her way to stalk her? Questions roamed through her head as she looked into the parking lot blankly. She should be homecoming queen and tumbling over boys! Why?

There was always something different about Veronica though, something even her parents didn't know. Something that she's never wanted so much in her life.

Melissa

That was always on her mind, her name, her smile, her smell, her tears, her laughter, her sadness, her insecurities, she wanted it all. And with this man that she sees walking with Melissa,Veronica was not going to have this, Melissa will be hers.
