After I leave the dining hall, I quickly rush out to the back gardens to clear my head

Less than a month, that's ridiculous

I don't even know the man and we are 'to be married'.

"Ugh!" I groan loudly as I make my way around the stable house

"What's got you so upset?" I hear out of nowhere

I jump and turn around to see Thomas, our young stable boy.

He has been at the castle for as long I can remember

He leans over the gate and smiles at me, causing his big brown eyes to seem even bigger.

"You never answered my question" he says in his thick Scottish accent

I laugh under my breath and cross my arms

"Oh, not much. just that I was practically sold off by my so called 'parents' to some man, that I have never met before!" I say sarcastically

He chuckles.

"So" I change the subject

"So" he replies

He flicks his long blond hair out of his eyes, and smiles at me

He begins to say something when a palace guard comes around the stable house

"Princess!?" He asks urgently

I turn around "yes?"

"We have been looking everywhere for you, your presence is requested immediately in the great hall" he gestures for me to go ahead of him.

I follow dutifully, he turns around to Thomas

"And you, get back to work" he says in an authoritative tone

Thomas nods

As I walk away with the guard I turn back to glance at Thomas

He catches my eyes and waves, with a big dopey smile on his face.

I smile and head into the great hall with the guard in tow

"Ah, great to see your in a good mood" my eldest brother John teases as I enter the room.

After paying respect to my father, who sat on his throne, I turn to John and tease back

"Oh yes, and how's your search for your 'long lost princess' doing?"

He glares daggers at me, and my mother rolls her eyes

Because about a year ago my brother claimed to have met 'the most beautiful princess he had ever seen' at a masked ball. he declared she was the one. His queen, when my father inevitably kicks the bucket and he is declared King.

"Now, don't tease your brother about his fantasies" my mother scolds

"Besides we are here to discuss your marriage to King Andrew" she continues

I hold in a loud groan.

"King Andrew desires the wedding to be held at his castle, so you must ready a trip there. you will bring all of your belongings because once married there that is where you will stay" my father says

I turn to look at him in shock, as the words ring through my head

"Never coming back" I repeat out loud just to grasp the words

"Yes, you will stay with him once your married. you are to be queen" my mother says in a matter-o-fact tone.

I sit there in stunned silence

My brother breaks it

"Maybe, Eleanora would desire a meeting of this, King Andrew is it? Before she leaves off with him forever?" He asks

I have to say, I have never been more grateful for my idiot brother in my life.

"Thats a wonderful idea" my mother says cheerfully

"I will send a message to the king at once" she says turning and leaving the room

"Father, please-" I begin

"No Eleanora, I'm sorry. I understand you do not want to marry him but you must. Not just for me, but our people. we need strong ties with the French, it's the only way we can protect ourselves" my father says

I hate to admin it but he is right, it is my duty as a princess to take care of my people

It takes all I have in me to hold back the pressing tears that are quickly filling my eyes

I quickly turn and rush out the room

Once out, I run down the hall an up the stairs to my room

I close the door and lock it

I fall to my bed and begin to let the tears fall down my face.

My entire future is gone, I haven't even had my 18th birthday.

A small knock at the door takes me out of my thoughts

I sit up and wipe my face, at least trying to make myself look more presentable

I clear my throat

"Yes?" I ask

"Eleanora?" A small voice asks

I swiftly get up from my bed and unlock the door

There stands my little sister, Mirabelle

"Hello Mirabelle, can I help you?" I ask nicely

"Why weren't you down for dinner?" She asks starting to suck her thumb, her only being four years old.

"Oh, I wasn't" I start

"Uh, feeling well. that's it, my uh. stomach, yes" I stutter

She looks at me curiously

I sigh and gesture for her to follow me into my room

She follows after like a lost puppy, and sits next to me on my bed

After a few moments of silence Mirabelle speaks

"Why are you leaving?" She asks

I look at her in shock I didn't even know she knew I was leaving

"How do you know that?" I question, truly curious

"Mummy and daddy were talking about it at dinner" she answers

"Oh" is all i say

"But why are you leaving?" She asks again

I sigh and lean back onto my pillows. She does the same

"Eleanora is getting married" I say

She looks at me with slight disgust

"Eww" she cries

"Only old people get married" she says

I laugh

"I agree, and trust me I don't want to get married"

After a few moments of silence she asks me in a feeble voice

"Are you going to leave me?"

I look down at her, she was looking up back at me with half asleep eyes

"No, I would never leave you" I lie

She excepts it and slowly drifts off in my arms

I lay back planning to do the same, when suddenly I hear a clinking sound on my window

Clink clink clink

I slowly get from my bed trying not to disturb my sleeping sister, and head to the window.

I swiftly open it and look out

"Thomas!?"
