Some way or the other, I have accepted my fate.

In ten years' time, I will be marrying Chiara and there's nothing that I can do to get out of it no matter how much I tried to find a loophole in the contract.

Sighing, I worked on my assignment, taking advantage of the tranquillity of the house considering Cyrus is not home plus Dad and Lorelei are out shopping.

Their wedding shopping.

Three years back, after making Dad understand over and over again, Cyrus and I one day locked them both in a room.

Don't know what exactly happened between them during those two hours but Dad did end up asking her out to which she happily agreed.

Two months back, Dad asked Cyrus and me if it was okay for him to get married again and if we had any objections to it. We didn't. If Dad was happy, we were too.

She truly changed Dad. Now he works a little less, spends more time with us. Go on dates with her and even take us four on vacations sometimes.

Everything was perfect. Only if you remove that little hellion.

I rolled my eyes at her thought and focused back on my laptop as I was close to finishing my assignment.

But then, our doorbell rang.

Our security guard lets only a few people pass through the main gate without confirming with us.

So guessing who could it be, I went over and opened the front door.

The first thing that I saw was the wide grin on Chiara's face as she waved her hand at me.

Then I focused on Uncle who had her in his arms.

"Dad's not home", I told him, ignoring Chiara.

He removed his sunglasses and fixed me with his eyes. "I know. I have come here to drop her off."

"No, thanks. I am enjoying some personal time right now."

Uncle sighed softly. "I have to be at a very important meeting in half an hour. Ariella is out too and so is Marcelo. And Silvio and Lilith have gone to the bookstore and I know they are going to spend hours there."

I noticed how he was all dressed up in a grey suit. "And she doesn't want to be alone. She said she can stay over at your house." He added.

I frowned. "So you want me to babysit her?"

"I think you are capable enough to do that."
