Strike Team

Rose has had enough. She meets with Adrian and tells him that she loves him but not in the way he needs her to. She told him that he is great, but that she needs to find herself again after Dimitri shattered her. Adrian understands and comforts Rose, knowing already that their relationship wasn't working, but didn't want to end it himself as he was wanting to be there for her. Adrian also didn't want to be another that walked out on her. Rose makes a request of Adrian to get a private meeting with Tatiana. Rose sits down on the couch in Tatiana's bed chambers with Adrian and Tatiana, and level headedly discusses other possibilities than lowering the age for guardians. Rose says she has a team ready to hunt strigoi. It can be the first sanctioned strike team for the Crown. Tatiana muses over the idea, says Dimitri gave a detailed list of hideouts/ nests etc. and that she doesn't want the age decree any more than Rose does but it was the lesser of two evils being pushed by the council.

After discussing linguistics, Tatiana agreed to funding the team. Rose heard a rustling outside, turns off the lights and ushers Adrian and Tatiana into the Queen's closet to hide while she checks it out. Rose jumped under the covers of Tatiana's bed and grabs for her stake to realise it wasn't there. A hooded figure climbs into the room and snuck up towards the Queen's bed. Rose waits patiently, then kicks out, kicking him to the ground, demanding to know who they are and why they were there. The intruder kicked out before jumping up to fight Rose, swinging their stake around. Rose recognising a higher threat level, dodged their strike, grabbed the bedside lamp and swung it at the intruder's head to knock them out. The intruder fell and hit their head on the bedpost. Upon hearing the commotion, the guardians enter the chambers and take in the scene. Tatiana and Adrian came running out to see what happened and if Rose was okay. The guardians took in their queen being unharmed, stood in front of her and looked upon the intruder, and Rose with a bloody lamp. Rose dropped her weapon, raised her hands and told them the intruder broke in and she took out the threat. A royal guard checked the intruder, removing their mask, to discover it was Tasha Ozera, checked her pulse to determine she had died from head trauma on the bedpost. Tatiana said to keep quiet on what happened, to incinerate the body and Rose was to go unpunished as she was protecting the monarch. It wasn't her hit that killed on impact. As a guardian was picking up the stake, Rose recognised it as hers, and realised that Tasha was trying to kill Tatiana and frame Rose for it.

Rose felt horrible for Christian, but it gave her more drive to do something good with her life by saving as many lives as she could- this included the dhampir not having to go out to face strigoi at such a young age. Rose had more reason to get away from Court, away from Christian where she wouldn't have to see him, feel guilty every time she saw him, or tell him that she killed his aunt and left him with no family.

Rose packed, left Court after saying goodbye to Adrian and Tatiana, and went back to Russia to meet up with the unpromised; Denis, Tamara, and Lev. Rose proposed her mission to the group, who were on board with it immediately thinking the Crown were finally doing the right thing, supporting their mission, and they'd get paid for it.

They spent three months at the gym and recruiting, coming up with the best strategies to work as a team. They then spent the following 6 months crossing off all the locations on the list Belikov put together, racking up their molnija count and saving lives. Rose reported to Hans and Tatiana weekly, and from this, Tatiana was able to show the council results of the team and reversed the age decree indefinitely.

After the 6 months and eliminating the whole list, Tatiana implemented more strike teams for other countries. Rose's team was brought to Court to train and teach new strike team members. All were voluntary recruits, and it just so happened Dimitri put his name down. Dimitri was surprised when Rose walked into the room with her team, he didn't think he'd ever get the chance to make amends for his stupidity. He requested to be on her team and was it granted by Hans and Tatiana, with their promise of bodily harm if he ever hurt her again.
