Hunter had become a bit more unbearable as the Survey Corps prepared to leave. He'd drag her to the training grounds and refused to allow her out of sight. Her wounds had all healed within a couple days– her head only having taken a day– so she was fine. She was officially adopted by Hunter, though she called him an adoptive sibling. Her mind wandered back to what Levi had told her; he was afraid of her getting them in trouble for what? When she looked at them she didn't see any reason for them to get in trouble.

Ava sighed through her nose. She felt as though her existence was a problem to the Survey Corps as well. She wasn't allowed to participate in training, nor was she allowed to sit in on the meetings. She knew the commander had no trust for her, her having brought explosives was seen as a problem too. She wondered what they'd gone through to cause him to treat people born top side the way he did. "Ava," she looked up to meet Hunter's eyes. "Think you'll be able to handle yourself while I'm gone on the expedition?" She nodded, being sure to remind him that she lived outside the walls until she turned 18.

He understood the sentiment. "Be safe out there," she finally told him. He looked down at her when those words left her lips. She didn't feel like losing another family member. He knelt down to her level. "Ava–" he started, but she interrupted him. "Just imagine having the bag of explosives I gave you." He nodded, a small smile on his face. "'The incentive not to be eaten.' I remember." She smiled back, telling him that regardless of how the mission goes, her brother needs to return. He nodded. Then he was off with his squad. She stood up and went to the stable to see her horse, Zaine.

Mich was there with his squad, getting ready. "Hey, Ava!" He was already on his horse, pretty tall looking now too. "Hey, Mich." She smiled back at him. She looked back at his squad, "You should probably go. Your squad is waiting."

"Right." He hesitated for a moment longer then guided his own horse back to his squad. She watched them ride off from the stables before she turned to her own horse. "Zaine, I need some help getting somewhere. Think we can manage that?" He stomped his hoof, nodding his head dramatically. She laughed, "I've got some new friends that I want to see." She opened the door to bring him out. She mounted him bareback. He was a better horse than what others thought.

Zaine took off, jumping the fence with ease. Ava held onto him as they flew past everything. She smiled, feeling the adrenaline rush from the swift horse. She got him to slow down once they reached close to the underground. She heard Zaine make a sneeze-like sound as he shook his head. "I'll be alright," she told the horse calmly, dismounting his back. She trusted him to be able to handle himself as she went to find the hideout of Furlan, Isabel, and Levi. Shouldn't be too difficult. She was cautious as she walked through the underground. She avoided getting too close to any of the larger groups of people.

She got pretty deep without finding much of a problem. That was until some drunk man cornered her in an alley. She fell deathly quiet, with her being in danger. She should've brought a weapon. She tried to think of a way to fight him off, but before she could, she heard a familiar whir of ODM gear. Shit... Ava watched the man drop like nothing. She looked over, expecting to see her adoptive brother only to realize who 'saved' her: Levi. She felt her shoulders relax a bit, relieved that it wasn't anybody from the Survey Corps. She opened her mouth to speak but he spoke first. "Why are you back here?"

"I said that I want to be friends with you, Isabel, and Furlan; that's why I came back." She watched him give her an angered stare. She sighed in an attempt to calm herself down. Levi suddenly grabbed her by the collar of her shirt, "How fucking stupid are you?" She shrugged at the question, "Very, if you're referring to me wanting to be friends." It was his turn to sigh. She wanted to laugh as he told her to grab onto his back. "I'll get you to the hideout." "Thanks, I can't wait to see the others." She did as told and held on tight. She buried her face into his shoulder as he essentially gave her a piggyback ride to the hideout.
