It's been years of her sneaking out to meet up with her friends. Erwin had become a captain and he was more trusting of her than others. Ava was now allowed to join in on some of the training events and she's gotten to learn ODM gear from her friends and adoptive brother. She had become more comfortable living on the ground. She had made plans that day to go visit her friends in the underground.

She planned to surprise her friends at the hideout, but on her way there, she saw the green cloaks. Crap! She took Zaine into a hidden area while they followed. They went into the underground— a squad of four or five from what she could see. Ava ran in after them, realizing that they were after her friends. No! They can't get taken in! She gave her own chase, trying to move around without being seen. She had to think of a way to help her friends. They split up and she felt mentally screwed. Who does she save first?! She paused for a moment: Levi had only one following him.

She was jumping from building to building, sliding through windows just as Furlan showed her. Ava felt something heavy hit her as she came crashing down not too far from Levi and the other person. She kicked the person's shin off her back and rolled, toppling them to their side. She was very observant of her surroundings and could already tell the figure was probably male and definitely larger than she was. Deciding to take it easy on him, she didn't bother pulling out a weapon, noticing neither did he. They both remained silent, following the steps in a 'dance'. He struck towards her core and legs, for some reason not being upset when she blocked.

Ava was quick to be completely different. She used a different fighting style, not wanting them to predict her next attack. She was stupid, the fight lasted too long. She eventually found herself in a lock, her back to her combatant. He dragged her over to where Levi was and Ava could see all three of her friends in cuffs. She struggled against the lock she was in when she realized who had come after her friends. "Damn it. Let them go!" Everyone turned to look at her as she snapped, her friends even seemed shocked. "Ava," Erwin turned to her, "What are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here?!" She kicked whoever had her in the shin with her heel, causing them to release her. "I should be asking you the same fucking question! You have my friends in cuffs!" He looked her up and down, "you're friends with criminals? I wonder how your brother would react to that."

"Oh really?! Because what I see is a trio of people doing what they need to in order to just survive," Ava glared at him. Erwin seemed to ponder what she just said. "If that's a crime, then call me a criminal too. I had to do what I had to when I was alone outside the walls just as they do down here."

"How would your brother react to you hanging out with—"

"I'm adopted, I don't matter as much in that regard." She didn't hesitate to interrupt him. Her friends all had shocked looks on their faces and she heard the familiar voice of Hunter, "Say that again and I will slap you." She turned to see him drop his hood as he approached her. "Say what again?" Ava challenged, "That I don't matter that much? Because I d—" The sound rang loudly throughout the underground. She heard Levi start to move but one of the other Survey Corps members slammed him face down in the mud. Furlan and Isabel started to chastise the member for their action.

Ava kept her eyes on Hunter for a moment more before finally looking at Erwin. "Watch your next move wisely, Captain." If looks could kill, he'd have died right then and there. "Alright," Erwin responded then turned to her friends, questioning them. After a moment, he knelt down in front of Levi giving her friends two options: Join the Survey Corps or be handed over to the Military Police for their crimes. Levi got up on his knees, agreeing that he'd and the rest of her friends join.

"Will I finally be able to join, or is the commander going to continue trying to keep me locked up?" Erwin and Hunter both looked at her for a moment before either of them spoke. "We'll discuss it when we get back," she was told coldly. Levi seemed to glare at her profusely, causing her to feel nervous. She mentally apologized to her friends as they all walked out. She whistled for Zaine to come retrieve her and the horse appeared shortly. Hunter gave her a disapproving look. "I stand by what I said down there about myself," she told him, mounting the horse.
