Between the back and forth at the Baker's house, the hospital and the beach house, it's been a crazy past couple of days for the vortex. The doctors were able to stabilize Patience after her immediate surgery but she is still having issues breathing on her own. Only time will tell if she makes a full recovery, Coop has not left her side through all of it. Pacing the hospital room, Coop tries to get in contact with Layla, no one has been able to reach her since that intial night. Deciding to call Spencer, "Yo, Spence. Have you seen or heard from. Layla? I need to know if she's heard anything about Miko." Spencer deep sighs, "Naw, she got Jordan freaking out over here too." Coop is frustrated, "We so don't need this right now! We need to find the girl that did this!" Having a sense of deja vu, Spencer remembers when this was Coop in this position after being shot.
Tragedy never seems to not stop following them. "Listen Coop, I know you a spinning right now. You want justice, to be in control. I get it, been there myself more times than I can count. But right now, the best thing you can do is to be there for Patience when she wakes up. Keep her parents mind occupied as y'all wait." He knows that not what she wants to hear right now, but after almost losing her, I have to try and keep her mind level headed.
Coop stared at the phone, frustration bubbling within her. She needed answers, needed to find Layla and figure out what had happened to Miko. But Spencer's words resonated in her mind, reminding her of the importance of being there for Patience in this critical time. Taking a deep breath, she clenched her fist, "Alright, I hear you. Thanks Spence," hanging up and pocketed the phone. It was time to refocus this energy and be the support Patience needed.
After the call ended, Spencer debated on how and what to tell Liv. She hasn't heard the news yet and he really doesn't want to give her bad news right now being all the way on London, but he knows it would be unfair to not say something. Head hung low, he decided to FaceTime her. Liv's face appeared on the screen, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Hey, babe! It's so good to see your face. I miss you and everyone else so much! How are things going back home?"
Spencer tried his best to muster a smile, not wanting to dampen Liv's spirits. "I miss you already too Liv, but there's something I need to tell you," he began, his voice tinged with concern. "It's about Patience." Her expression shifted, her brows furrowing. "What's happened? Is everything alright?"
Taking a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "Patience was injured pretty badly. She's been in the hospital since the night you left, and the situation is serious. Coop has been by her side this whole time, but we still don't know if she'll make a full recovery."Shock and worry washed over Liv's face as she absorbed the news. "Oh no, Spencer! How did this happen? Is there anything I can do? I should come back home immediately." Spencer shook his head, his voice filled with reassurance. "Babe stop, look you have to stay where you are. Right now, the best thing you can do is to continue your work there. Remember what I said, be brilliant, even given the circumstances. The hospital, family and friends here are doing everything they can for Patience, and we're all hoping for a positive outcome."
Tears welled up in Liv's eyes, a mixture of helplessness and concern. "I can't believe this is happening. Why can't there just be a summer of peace?" Spencer leaned closer to the camera, his voice gentle yet firm. "Liv, I know this is not ideal. But I need you to remember that our group always pushes through the pain."
Liv nodded, wiping away a tear that trickled down her cheek. "You're right, Spencer. I'll do whatever I can to support them from here. Please keep me updated on Patience's condition."
"I will, babe. I promise." Spencer assured her, his tone filled with compassion. "So, fill me in on the good going on there in London. How is it so far?" Liv sniffled, trying to compose herself. "London is amazing, Spencer. The city is vibrant, and the work I'm doing here is already challenging yet fulfilling. I've met some incredible people and made new friends. But being away from you all and hearing about Patience... it's just hard."
Spencer nodded understandingly, his heart aching for Liv. "I know it's tough. But remember, we're a team, even when we're miles apart. Lean on your new friends and draw strength from the experiences you're having. And know that no matter what you deserve happiness in spite of the tragedy."
Liv managed a small smile through her tears. "I know, I need to make the most of this opportunity while still being there for our friends. Please tell Coop and Patience's family that they're in my thoughts and prayers."
Spencer reached out his hand toward the screen, as if trying to bridge the physical gap between them. "They'll appreciate that, Liv. And remember, we'll get through this. We've faced challenges before, and we'll face them again. Stay strong, baby."
Liv nodded, her voice filled with determination. "I will. I love you so much. I really wish I could be there with you." Spencer smiled, "I love you too Liv, with everything in me. Listen we made it through the first week, 11 more to go." That fills Liv with hope, "What's 11 weeks apart, when we have forever to go. I'll text you in the morning, okay babe?" Spencer grinned, "Forever with you. Look forward to waking up to your message. Have a good night Liv."
After the call ended, Spencer sat in his room, feeling the weight of the responsibility resting on his shoulders. He knew he had to be a pillar of strength for everyone, including Liv. Despite the distance, he felt connected to her, to their friends, and to the unwavering bond they all shared.
Taking a deep breath, Spencer reminded himself of the lessons he had learned from football and from his experiences with his friends. They had faced tragedy and challenges time and time again, but they had also triumphed through resilience and unity. With that in mind, he vowed to keep the spirit of hope alive, to be a beacon of support for all those he loved.
