Under the Starry Night Sky (set in a small town in California)

Chapter 1 - The Meet Cute (at a local coffee shop)

It was a cool night in the small town of San Marcos. The stars were twinkling in the sky and there was a gentle breeze blowing. At the local coffee shop, there was a new barista, a young woman named Sofia. She was reading a book behind the counter when a medium-height, broad-shouldered man came into the shop.

Sofia glanced up and caught his eye. There was something about him that made her heart race. He was wearing a black leather jacket and jeans, his hair was a little messy, and he had a captivating smile.

"Hi, can I get a black coffee to go?" he asked in a smooth voice, his dark eyes locked onto hers.

Sofia nodded and got to work, trying not to let her nerves show. "That'll be $3.50," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

He paid and then hesitated for a moment. "I'm Jake, by the way," he said, extending his hand.

Sofia shook it, feeling a jolt of electricity. "I'm Sofia," she said, smiling.

They talked for a few more minutes, and as Jake left the shop, he turned and said, "See you around, Sofia."

Sofia couldn't stop thinking about him for the rest of the night.
