Things were finally winding down for once. It had been so long since there was any peace in this kingdom. It was definitely a nice breath of air. Everyone got to relax and rest without fear for once.
That didn't mean things were easy, though. The castle still needed much repair. It had been a few days of work already and yet it felt like not even a dent had been made in it. Everyone was at work constantly trying to fix up whatever was broken during the fights.
At least there was nothing else to worry about. It made the job less stressful for everyone involved. They didn't have to rush through it. It was okay to take a bit more time on things. There was no danger looming over them.
Tamao honestly couldn't remember the last time she had been so calm. She was finally able to get the rest she needed. It was amazing how much clearer her mind was now that she was taking care of her body again.
She spent most of her time answering to the concerns of the citizens. Many had questions or issues they needed resolved. Tamao spent many long hours listening to people or reading letters. It was tough, but a nice break from a war.
"Tamao, I have a message for you." Mei Fan entered into her office.
"What is it?" Tamao paused from her work and looked at her.
"The Sacred Lands village is requesting help. They say there's some person robbing people. They're desperate for help." Mei Fan said as she set down the letter with all the details.
"We don't have anyone to spare here..." Tamao sighed, "Everyone is too busy as is..."
"Perhaps Suzu and Hisame can help?" Mei Fan suggested, "They might be free."
"Good idea." Tamao smiled at her, "I'll ask them myself later. I don't want to keep you from your work."
"If you insist." Mei Fan nodded and left the room.
Tamao looked over the letter. It was pretty much just what Mei Fan had told her. There was some person showing up and robbing people and their houses.
...
"Hmm? Tamao. Hi! Do you need something?"
Later that afternoon, Tamao went to talk to Suzu and Hisame. Suzu was the one to answer the door.
"Yes. I have a favor to ask of you guys." Tamao nodded, "May I come in?"
"Of course!" Suzu welcomed her inside.
They entered into the house and sat down at the table in the small dining room. Suzu called for Hisame to come join them. It only took a minute for her to appear.
"Ah, Tamao. Good to see you again. How have you been?" Hisame greeted her as she took a seat.
"I've been well." Tamao replied, "I take it all is well here?"
"Yep. It's so weird having a regular house for once." Hisame said, "It's really nice to be in peace for once."
"It really is." Tamao agreed.
"So, what do you need from us?" Suzu asked.
Tamao slid the letter across the table to them, "I received this request from the Sacred Lands villagers. Unfortunately repairs are taking up everyone's time and I don't have anyone to help. I was hoping you two might be up for a little challenge."
"So... there's some criminal running around and they need help stopping them?" Hisame said.
"Sounds like it. Would you two be able to go figure it out?"
"Sounds fun! I'm in!" Suzu nodded.
"It has been a bit too boring. This sounds like something easy enough to do." Hisame agreed.
