New Life / Part Two

Grumbling, I slouched lower into the back seat of my dad's car, my bike having already been sent up ahead of us.

"Cheer up Ryder, you're acting as if it were your execution," my dad joked, looking at me through the rear view mirror.

"May as well be," I muttered, glaring at the passing world. My statement stopped any further conversation, at least for awhile that is.

"How about you change your appearance, an insurance of sorts," my mum suggested, some time later in the trip when we started to near the edge of a town.

"Any particular look you wish me to have?" I asked, sarcasm dripping heavily off of the end of my tone.

"Don't be like that Ryder. And at the very least be under the radar," my dad said, a slight warning at the beginning.

"Fine then," I grumbled, doing as instructed and changing my appearance once more with a little bit of magic.

I had made my 6ft slim yet well built frame into one of 5'4 and slim. My slightly pointy ears rounding into a more human shape. My hair then changed from shoulder length white hair to short red hair. My eyes were next and gone was the unnatural gold and come did the green natural looking eyes. At to top of my new look, I had added a few freckles here and there.

"Very nice," my mum joked, looking through the rear view mirror from the front seat.

"Yeah, yeah. I thought I would go all Irish on me new victims," I said, Irish accent shining through.

"Since when did you have an Irish accent?" my dad asked, giving a freaked out look.

"Since I had decided to annoy the people at the new school, Oh! And of course you guys and the new pack," I said, laughing slightly, accent holding strong.

"Fair enough," my dad laughed, soon being joined in with my mum.

~An eight hour drive later~

Groaning, I opened one eye and looked to the disturbance of my much wanted and needed sleep. Said cause was none other then my dad who was still sitting in the drivers seat.

"Sorry bud, went over a speed bump, didn't mean to wake you. But since you are now, welcome to Sapphire Cove," my dad said, a concerned tone leaking through his excitement.

With his announcement, I looked out the window and completely ignored his apology, taking in the beauty of the town.

"Maybe living here won't be so bad, as long as I get to go for runs," I said, a smile lighting up my now slightly tanned face.

"Thought as much," my mum said, smiling with her concern hidden in her brown eyes.

"And that is why we have requested a house on the outskirts or at least slightly in the forest," my dad added, casting me a glance through the rear view mirror.

The town itself was surrounded by forest, houses had the Victorian feel to them and suited the town well.

"So how much does the Alpha know about me exactly?" I asked, giving a sigh at the thought of having no secrets.

"Just the basics, what's the power in your blood, your insomnia and the fact that you have a wolf. And it's only the Alpha and his mate that know this and the real reason as to why we are there, everyone else, including the Alpha's son, think that we are just normal people joining the pack," my dad replied, giving a bit more information then I had asked, as he heaved a sigh and pulled up into a driveway.

"Pack house?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at the three story house before us.

"Good guess," my dad grumbled, turning the car off and exiting the car with mum.

I heaved a sigh as I left the car, giving a slight prayer to the heaven's above.
