i. baek hyun's mission

Today was another day at the Celestial Empire and there was not much activities going on.

" Hyung, why can't you even stand up? " One of his friends, Se Hun, complained. Se Hun was also a guard of the king and their job was to follow the king around and guard the room he was at and yes, that includes the bathroom.

" I feel that my legs aren't even there, " Baek Hyun sat on the concrete floor while waiting for the king to finish his meeting with the ministers. " He's been in there for hours. "

" What if someone catches you sitting down and being lazy? You will be punished! " Se Hun disagrees and shook his head, sighing.

" Come on, just sit down, it would not hurt. " Baek Hyun tried to pull him down to sit with him but he stayed still.

" I'm not lazy like you, hyung. I do my duties diligently and not defy the king's order, " Se Hun stood still waited. Baek Hyun's word had no effect on him.

" Whatever, " Baek Hyun blew his bangs and watched the maids past by. Some of them smiled at him and he winked back, trying to seduce them and get them to fall head over heels for him.

" You're such a flirt, " Se Hun added.

" I'm not, I'm being friendly, " Baek Hyun defended himself and continued waving at the passing palace maids.

" I hear the king coming out. Yah, you better get up or else, " Se Hun warned him.

" Alright, " He stood up, annoyed with Se Hun nagging at him.

Just then, the door flew open and the king came out. The guards bowed and followed him towards the study room which was located at the other end of the palace.

" Baek Hyun-ssi, I have to talk to you inside and Se Hun, please watch the door, " The king entered and Baek Hyun followed. Se Hun gave him a fearful look and Baek Hyun was scared himself too. What does the king got to say to a guard and why not tell Se Hun too? Is it because the king found out about Baek Hyun being lazy and wanted to punish him?

" Baek Hyun-ssi, I am going to discuss something important with you. " The king started.

" Yes, your majesty. I will listen attentively, " He replied politely.

" Please take a seat and I will tell you about it, " The king motioned him to sit in front of him and even poured a cup of jasmine tea for him. Isn't the king being overly nice?

" This is a secret mission and only you, the other ministers and I know about this. Have you heard of the underworld? "

This is getting spooky.

" Yes, your majesty. I have heard of it before. "

" That's great and now I am trusting you on an important mission. " The king paused and took a sip in his tea. " Do you promised me not to reveal a single bit of information to anyone else even Se Hun-ssi? Not tell anyone unless I want you to say? "

" Yes, your majesty. I will have it kept as a secret and not utter a word about it. "

" Good and now I trust you on completing an important mission. "

Baek Hyun suddenly felt his throat dry.

" You must be feeling so tense. Why not take a drink? " The king took another sip from his cup.

" I- I will, yo-your majesty, " Baek Hyun's voice cracked and took a big sip from his cup.

" I will send you to Earth for your mission, "

Baek Hyun coughed in shocked. Send him to Earth?!

" Be careful, will you? As I was saying, I am sending you to Earth. You should have heard of Earth, didn't you? "

" Yes, your majesty, " Baek Hyun replied, feeling reluctant about going to Earth. He disliked it as he heard that Earthlings are almost as mean as devils from the underground world, which was also known as Hell.

" Are you okay? " The king waved a hand over his face and snapped him out of his thoughts.

" Yes, your majesty. Please go on, "

" Rumor has it that the underground empire had sent a few devils to cause mischief on Earth. We were planning to stop them and I am sending you and two more guards away to spy on them. I am not sure of what those devils are going to do but I need you to report their actions to me when it is suspicious. I will give you a special device which will enable you to comunicate with me or anyone else in this empire. You are to report their actions everyday and we will tell you to take actions when necessary. But before you are being sent to Earth, I will give you some time and arrange a few meetings with the other guards who would be going to Earth with you but they will be assigned to different locations. You will be off your duty and I will help you explain to Se Hun-ssi so you don't need to worry about that. You will have a week before sending we send you off to Earth and in from now onwards, you do not need to go for duty or follow me around, you have a week of free time to yourself except maybe when I call you in for meeting. Are you clear about that? "

" Yes, your majesty. " Baek Hyun replied. He somehow felt quite happy about having no work for a week and could sleep all day but he had to go to Earth. Earth was like Hell in his thoughts but knowing that two other guards are going too, he felt more relieved.

" Se Hun-ssi, Baek Hyun is leaving work and he have some reasons. I will explain it to you and today will be the last day of his work. " The king explained to Se Hun as they walked to another place. The king actually told Se Hun that Baek Hyun would be would be sent out of the empire due to his poor performance at work which got Baek Hyun angered and thinking that the king's reason is stupid.
