A new life

  As I walk away from my house, my destination unknown. I shed tears as the rain poured heavily suffocating the earth, sand turned to mud as my feet dug into it.
     My thigh high boots keeping my feet warm enough to fuel my body with some heat to keep moving as my short kimono did nothing but make me feel the cold if the rain.
     Why did this happen? What had I done so wrong that I deserved this? Were there others who were met with the same cruel fate?
     I was so lost in thought that I slipped and rolled down a steep hill to the very bottom. My clothes torn and my face bruised a bit. I hit my head on a rock as started to see the world around me spin.
     I saw a silhouette in the distance before I blacked out. Well, at least I could escape reality for a little bit.

    Michikatsu's pov
I had just slayed a demon near a hill when I saw someone roll to the ground in the distance. Maybe it was another demon.
     I went there after a minute when the figure didn't move. I couldn't believe what I saw, it was a girl. Her skin looked like she basked in the sun's rays. She was unusual but beautiful. From her dressing, she looked like someone from a first class family.
     I wanted to leave her but I had to know why she was out here and what her intentions were, so I took her to the Tsugikuni estate.
   Doctor Shinobu quickly attended her after I had dropped her off at the infirmary.
   I met Yoriichi in the wisteria garden sitting on a log near the pond so I decided to sit beside him.
   "How was your mission brother?" he asked as his eyes admired the view with a tranquil look on his face.
   "It was a success brother, and I found an unconscious girl too. I brought her here so I could question her once she's awake" I answered looking at the beautiful moon as I breathed in the fresh air of the starry night.
    "Don't just start interrogating her, let her heal first and make sure she's comfortable" he advised as we enjoyed the serenity of the moment in silence.

(Name) had woken up from her concussion and was met with a worried Shinobu.
   "How are you feeling?" she asked softly as she admired the unusual beauty laying on the futon.
   " A bit better, I have a little headache and I'm Takahashi (Name) by the way" she said groggily.
   "I'm Doctor Shinobu but you can just call me Shinobu " the purple eyed girl said sweetly.
   "You sure are lucky Michikatsu sama found you, though what were you doing in the forest, there are demons you know" she added as she mixed some medicine and honey for the girl.
    "I was leaving home, a demon killed all the people I cared about, and I was hoping to slay demons, I just needed a tutor" she told Shinobu who handed her the medicine.
   She drank it in one gulp before she added," I must thank this, Michikatsu person, and where am I?"
    "You're in the Tsugikuni estate and you would be glad to know Michikatsu sama and his younger twin brother are the best demon slayers" Shinobu said and took the cup.
   "Anyways, rest a bit as I inform him that you're awake" she added and left the room.
    The shoji slowly slide open to reveal Michikatsu with a cold look etched on his face.
   "Who are you?" he asked as he stepped in with Yoriichi following behind. Apparently, he was bored and wanted to see this new comer.
   "I'm Takahashi Name and you are?'' she said.
  "Michikatsu, and that is my brother Yoriichi" he stated with an unreaderable expression on his face.
     Name's short hair framed her face perfectly. She had cut her hair a while back when she wanted to try on a new look.
   "Please accept my gratitude for helping me, I don't mean to disturb you in anyway" she said as she fidgeted with her bedsheet.
   "What's your story, how did you end up in the forest?" Michikatsu asked as her face morphed into a bitter one.
   "I got home after an evening stroll to see the corpses of my loved ones and a demon feasting on them, I managed to kill it by stabbing it multiple times non stop and finally a slash to the neck" she started with bitterness laced in every word which didn't go unnoticed.
    "I used to think they were just stories since I had never encountered one before till a few hours ago, I buried the bodies and left with nowhere to go but one thing in mind, to rid the world of demons, to become a demon slayer" she added with some fire as she said the last sentence.
     Michikatsu had misjudged her and Yoriichi had some sympathy in her eyes.
   "Well, you're in luck. We are the leaders of the demon slayer corps and we could train you to be one" Yoriichi said calmly to the girl.
    "I would be very grateful, I will do my best to be a good demon slayer" she said with some determination in her eyes.
   "Good to know, from now on, you'll stay here. We would have a room set up for you near our quarters" Yoriichi said with a small smile before the two left the room.

" I have to admit brother, I misjudged her" Michikatsu confessed.
  " It's quite understandable, but she is an unusual beauty, quite exotic if I may say" Yoriichi said to him.
   "I agree brother " Michikatsu said as the two made their way their shared room.

   Mitsuri came in a while later to give (Name) some clothes to wear.
   "Hi, I'm Mitsuri. You must be Name. I brought you some clothes to wear and I thought you might like to join me at the hot spring" the pink and green haired girl said sweetly as she handed to fresh new clothes to the rare beauty.
   "Thank you Mitsuri. I accept your offer to the hot spring" Name said sweetly as she got up from her futon.
   "You're so nice, some of the girls are mean to me because of my hair. And I almost forgot, there's dinner after our baths and a new room for you. If you need anything let me know " Mitsuri blabbed to Name.
     The two became good friends and Shinobu even became Name's good friend. They had their baths and dinner before Name was given a tour as she was escorted to her new room by Mitsuri.
    "By the way Name, you shouldn't say your private things out loud, the Tsugikuni brother's rooms are adjacent to yours, so just make sure they don't here you say anything inappropriate" she whispered to her.
   "Thanks for the info, please wake me up tomorrow and give me another tour" Name whispered to her.
   "Sure thing, there are some new clothes in your wardrobe and if you ever want to explore around let me know" Mitsuri added before hugging her goodbye.
    Name walked into her room which was quite simple but beautiful. There were some extra futons and kimonos in her wardrobe.
    There were a few brand new notebooks which she decided to write some poetry in before she slept.

   Mitsuri woke her up early the next day to go bath and chat a bit. She gave her some important girl stuff she would need such as combs, hair pomade and others.
    The Tsugikuni brothers had requested her presence after breakfast and she hurriedly made her way to them.
   "Michikatsu sama, Yoriichi sama, you requested my presence" she said as she bowed in respect. Mitsuri had told her of their great deeds which was indeed worthy of respect.
    "Not so formal when it's just us" Yoriichi said calmly as she rose from her position.
   "You want to become a slayer don't you? You'll start training with us from tomorrow" Michikatsu said gruffly.
    Name was bubbling inside but kept a calm composure as she thanked them before taking her leave.

    Just so you know, this is an AU of demon slayer. It doesn't really follow the original story that's why certain characters are here. I hope you liked this chapter.
