you glanced awkwardly at max who was sat across from you. placed on the table that separates the two of you were notecards, a bottle of tequila, and two shot glasses.
you hadn't had an actual conversation with max since the night you broke up, two years ago. so, to say you weren't very excited to have your first one since then on camera would be an understatement.
"you guys ready?" you both nodded, and then the cameras started rolling.
"please state who you are and how long you dated for." the person behind the camera asked.
max went first. "i'm max verstappen, i'm a driver for red bull racing."
"i'm y/n l/n, i'm a driver for alpha tauri." you answered, "and we dated for about 4 years."
max nodded. "from the time we were 15 to the time we were 19."
an awkward pause passed before max picked up one of the notecards. "do you want me to go first?"
you shrugged. "sure."
the look on max's face when he read the card made you regret ever agreeing to this in the first place. he sighed before finally reading the question aloud. "why did we break up?"
yep. you were definitely regretting this. "uh, well. we were just at very different places in our lives, i mean, he had just gotten signed to red bull and i was really focused on winning the formula 2 championship, so yeah."
you smiled awkwardly. god, you were lying through your teeth. you picked up the next card, almost scoffing at the question. "how long did it take you to get over us?"
max inhaled, thinking for a moment before reaching over and pouring the alcohol into the shot glass. you refrained from rolling your eyes, you knew the answer to that question without him even having to say anything. it was two measly little weeks.
