Kavi and Sera have best best friends since the beginning of the school year. But they both have feeling for each other than definitely exceed the friend zone. Sera's still figuring herself out, however, and doesn't quite know who she is yet.

"Now, therapists aren't exactly supposed to be doing this. And I could get in trouble. So allow me to tell you this as a friend, not a therapist." Sera was surprised that Jane had started the conversation today. Although she had gotten closer to Dr. Arloe, the therapist never told her anything.
"Is the girl you speak of so fondly possibly named Kaviyah Williams?"
Sera's jaw dropped. "What the actual hell?" Jane grinned. "Let's just say I know people. But the point is- tell the girl how you feel. Trust the adult on this one, hon. Trust me."
And Sera did. She was already heartbroken. How bad could this possibly go?

It was the day of Sera's bat mitzvah. She was meeting Kavi ahead of time to get ready. The entire room was beautiful, complete with Sera's favorite part, a cotton candy machine.

They were hooked arm in arm as they walked in. Sera's jaw dropped as she took in the beauty of it all.
"It's pretty, isn't it?" asked Kavi.
Sera smiled and turned towards her.
