I sat down at the table and ate what my brother prepared. The food was cold, I must've taken too long to come down and eat it. With one hand I was aimlessly scrolling on my phone, with my other, I was eating with the fork.
"Kay! What took you so long!" Eric shouted as he entered the kitchen and saw me eating.
I looked up from my phone and plate to see him standing in the doorway, "now the food's all cold." He groaned, slouching his shoulders forwards, "you know... I made it just for you, for your first day."
I glanced back at my phone screen and laughed, but not him, I was laughing at a video on my phone, not even paying attention to him.
He scoffed, walking towards the front door, "I'll be waiting outside, I expect you to be outside in thirty minutes, we're already running late." He rolled his eyes.
I sighed, rubbing my eyes with my hand and yawning, last hour of summer break before your senior year. I thought, I shoved the food into my mouth with the help of water, I managed to keep it all down.
I stood and pushed in my chair, I'd been staying at my brother's place for the past few days, our parents just thought it would be easier for him to drop me off at the school instead of me living with them and having to fly all the way across the country.
I've been taught to leave the place I was staying in better than I found it. Before leaving, I checked my bedroom, all the drawers in the dresser were pushed in, the bed was neatly made and the closet was empty. Good.
I grabbed my backpack and looked over the house one last time. I gripped the strap as I slung it over my shoulder. Walking out of the house, I walked to his car, opening the door and placing the bag in between my legs on the floor.
"Kay, we're already behind schedule... we were supposed to leave a near half an hour ago!" Eric scolded, starting the car.
"Eric, have you really been sitting in this hot car with no AC. I didn't know you were so crazy. Listen if-"
Eric held a hand up, "No," he stopped me mid sentence, "don't tell me some not so fun fact about the human body." He pressed the gas petal with his foot, "I don't have time for that shit. I have errands to run. You've made me late to my yoga class."
I scoffed, folding my arms on top of each other, looking out the window, "if you were really going to have a problem with me making you late. Just drop me off at the corner and forget it. I have a phone meaning I have maps." I frowned as the words left my mouth.
Eric smirked, "if you think I should then I will."
"I didn't mean it." I answered, glancing at him.
"Oh, so now you take it back?" He demanded, slamming on the brakes, sending me forwards.
I hit the dashboard, I groaned, holding a hand to my head, "what did you that for?"
He pointed up, "train." He raised his eyes, I saw what he was pointing at. A train was passing on tracks right in front of us, "now, stop distracting me. I have to focus, unless you want to be hit by a train. Be my guest, Kay."
He thinks he's so funny. I rolled my eyes, "I don't want to get hit by a train."
"Good... because neither do I. I actually value my life, thank you very much."
"So do I. I'm going to go to MIT or Harvard to get away from you... you dumbass!" I shouted, pushing my hands on the dashboard.
Eric accelerated, sending me back into the seat, he laughed, "you should've seen your face, god absolutely priceless!" He screamed, he was still laughing.
