It was time for me to enter my senior year of high school, it would've been the same if my parents didn't work for the government. I would've attended the same high school, but instead I was moving all the way across the country. I would have no friends, just me, my brains and myself all alone, being put in a boarding school by my brother.
This was my last day at home with my brother, Eric. He can be very annoying and pushy at times, but I love him, in the brotherly and sisterly way and sometimes I hate him.
It's more of a mutual hate of each other like all siblings.
"Kay, it's your first day of senior year, you have to get your ass out of bed," said Eric, his voice was muffled, so I knew he wasn't in the bedroom with me.
This was his first attempt at getting me out of bed. If that failed, I'd hear him screaming in my ear within the next five to ten minutes.
I groaned, sitting up in my bed, this was the last time I'd be staying here for a while. My suitcases were packed already and all set to go. I'd been up all night packing.
"You up in here yet?" Eric asked, opening the door slightly.
I yawned, turning away from the door, "barely." I mumbled, rubbing my eyes with my hand.
"First day of senior year, Kay." He said, not moving away from the door, "are you excited?"
I sighed, lowering my gaze to the carpeted floor, "I'll miss my friends, that's for sure. We promised to keep in touch and we have." I smiled, "I'm a little excited, to be honest."
"In just eight months, you'll be graduating and going off to the college of your choice."
"Probably one of the ivy leagues." I responded, slipping out of bed.
"I'm a disappointed to our parents because I didn't get into any ivy league schools, you on the other hand... 4.6 GPA and a 1540 SAT score. You'll probably get into whatever college you want." He said, he had a big grin on his face.
I scoffed, "the SAT score was from last year, Eric. I'll start applying as soon as applications open up."
"Does it matter? It still counts towards college applications."
"I know it does. I'm hoping to keep up the high GPA, so I go off to whatever college I'd like."
"I think you'll do that." He answered, turning to the door, "we leave in half an hour, get ready, Kay." He had a smirk on his face.
"I'll wipe that smirk right off your face!" I shouted as he left.
"I bet you will!" His voice echoed down to me as he walked loudly down the stairs.
I hope this school is as normal as the other one I went to.
Boy was I wrong...
