On the ride home Maxine is feeling exhausted and confused and has so many questions for Chris, she feels like she might be able to get more answers out of Chris than Ronnie.
"So if a vampire bites you you're connected to that person forever?" Maxine asks
"Basically, because they feel as though they did you a favor by giving you powers to live forever, although I wouldn't have chosen this for myself, at least the being a slave to Michael part."
"Is it just you and Ronnie around here, that are like this?" Maxine asks
"There's more of us around here then you would think. Some good and some bad" Chris replies.
"What's the difference between a good and bad vampire?"
"Well I'd like to consider Ronnie and I good ones, we only eat upon humans if we have to but we usually stick to animals. The bad ones feed on anything they can get their hands on and enjoy taking lives and making more vampires" Chris replies.
"Do you ever think you'll be free from Michael?" Maxine asks.
"The only way would be if Michael got killed" Chris says in an irritated tone.
"This is my street, it's the last house on the left"
Maxine interrupts.
"Thanks Chris I'll see you later I guess" Maxine says awkwardly.
"We'll be in touch, have a good night" Chris says before he pulls his dodge challenger out of Maxine's driveway.
Maxine walks in her front door it's 3 o'clock in the morning and her grandmother is sitting on the couch waiting for Maxine to arrive.
"Where the hell have you been?? You're lucky I didn't call the police!! What are these cuts all over you?? Connie yelled as Maxine started walking past the living room.
"I hit a cow on the way to my friend Adrienne's house, my car is fucked but I'm fine. I'm going to bed"
Maxine slams the door in her grandmothers face.
"Don't think there won't be consequences for this stunt you pulled tonight" Connie yells through Maxine's bedroom door.
Maxine lays on her bed replaying in her head what happened earlier this evening. She can't even wrap her head around the fact that vampires are real and how she even got caught up in the path of Chris and Ronnie.
The next morning Maxine wakes up around 10 a.m. she had missed three of her classes already but she felt way to sore to try and rush to make it to school. Maxine starts head a vibrating noise at the side of her bed coming from her purse, she unzips her purse to find her phone that she thought she had lost when she hit the cow the night before. On her phone was a text from Adrienne.
"Hey girl, there's a party tonight at one of the frat houses, thought I'd extend the invite to the new fresh meat on campus!"
Maxine waits to reply debating on whether she feels like going she is still super exhausted and sore from her crazy night before. Maxine gets up from bed to go to the bathroom down the hall to take a shower, she still had dirt on her feet from running in the woods last night after seeing Chris and Ronnie feeding on the cow. After Maxine showers she puts on some makeup and straightens her hair as Maxine is standing in front of the bathroom mirror her phone starts ringing. The caller ID is unknown but Maxine decides to take the call anyways.
"Hello"
"Maxine I need to talk to you"
"Who's this?" Maxine asks.
"It's Chris, can you come here Ronnie and I both need to see you? I can come pick you up" says Chris.
"Uhhh why do you need to see me?" Maxine asks in a confused tone.
"Please just let me come get you, we need to see you I'm already driving" Chris persists
"Fine, but if I come home bloody again I swear" Maxine says as she hangs up on Chris.
Maxine sees Chris pull in her driveway in his black Dodge Challenger and she walks out and gets into the passenger seat.
"Well hello again" Maxine says in a sarcastic voice.
"Maybe you shouldn't give much attitude to someone that can kill you in a matter of seconds" Chris says with a smirk.
Maxine gives Chris a dirty look from the passenger side.
"If you wanted to kill me you would've by now" says Maxine, very sure of herself.
Once Chris and Maxine get to his and Ronnie's house Chris opens the door to let Maxine in and she sees Ronnie sitting on the sofa waiting for he and Chris to arrive.
" so what is this gonna be about?" Maxine asks in a confused tone.
" so last night when you were here and you were bleeding your blood smelled different to us" said Chris in response.
"What do you mean different?" Maxine asked
"Your blood smells good as fuck you have a rare blood type probably AB negative which vampires crave rare blood types" Ronnie interjects.
"Basically what Ronnie's saying is you're not safe around here, there's too many vampires in this town that feed on people" Chris says.
"Okay....we'll I've lived here for the last 5 years I think I'm okay" Maxine says rolling her eyes.
"well the university is the main problem theres vampires crawling all over the place there" says Chris.
"Well I can't just stop going, my grandmother might kick me out if i stop going to school" Maxine explains in a frustrated tone.
"Well you leave Ronnie and I no other choice than to watch out for you, because they will be after you, some of them probably already have your scent" Chris says
"Yeah so a big inconvenience to us" Ronnie says with his harsh attitude.
"Excuse me! An inconvenience to you? I don't need you guys following me around like leaches I can manage on my own thanks."
"It's to fucking help you! Do you want to die or be connected to someone forever?" Chris yells at Maxine.
''I'm literally not gonna sit here and argue with two vampires about other vampires wanting to "suck my blood" oooooh I'm so scared! So I'm gonna have my new friend Adrienne pick me up at the end of your driveway cause we're done here " Maxine shouts at Chris and Ronnie.
Maxine barges out of their front door and starts walking down the long gravel driveway of their house Maxine had text Adrienne to come pick her up while she was arguing back and forth with Chris and Ronnie. As she approaches the end of the driveway Adrienne pulls up in her red Honda civic.
"Hey girl, what's going on? Why were you at Chris Cerulli and Ronnie Radke's house? Adrienne asks very confused.
"It's a long story that I don't wanna get into, basically just a bunch of bullshit" Maxine says in an annoyed tone.
"Okay well.....do you wanna come to my place and help me pick an outfit for the frat party tonight and we can pre game?" Adrienne suggests.
Maxine pauses as she thinks about whether going to the party would be a good idea or not, but after the argument she just had with Chris and Ronnie she figures a few drinks may help her relax.
"I guess that's fine, a few drinks won't hurt anyone" Maxine replies.
Once Adrienne and Maxine get to Adrienne's they walk up to Adrienne's room, Maxine is repulsed by Adrienne's bright pink bedroom walls as if they could be anymore different aesthetically from each other Maxine wonders if she will be able to get close to Adrienne.
"So I'm thinking maybe some ripped up mom jeans and a pink crop top?" Adrienne says
"Uhhh yeah.....sure that will look good" Maxine says awkwardly.
Adrienne starts laughing over Maxine's response.
"What?" Maxine asks about her laughter.
"Well do you wear any other colors aside from black?" Adrienne asks.
"I mean yeah.....sometimes, I just like more dark muted tones. Bright colors have never looked good on me." Maxine explains
"Never thought I'd have a goth friend before" Adrienne says as Maxine's cringes.
"I'm not goth, I don't practice any of that subculture stuff I prefer....."hot ass metal chick" in reference to my style I guess" Maxine's says while chucking.
"Okay. Gotcha. Hot ass metal chick it is then" Adrienne says smiling at Maxine.
"So after I get dressed do you wanna head down to the kitchen and take look at my parents liquor cabinet and take some shots" Adrienne asks.
"That sounds great" Maxine replies.
Adrienne and Maxine head down to Adrienne's kitchen and open her parents liquor cabinet to find all different kinds of liquor.
"I'm a rum girl, but what do you prefer?" Adrienne asks Maxine.
"I'm a tequila lover so I'll take some of that patron if you don't mind" Maxine says as she grabs the patron bottle and hands the bottle of Malibu to Adrienne.
The two girls start taking shot after shot of their bottles.
"I'm gonna order an Uber to the party for us" Adrienne says to Maxine.
"Okay sounds good cause I'm definitely in so shape to drive after that" Maxine replies.
"It should be here in about 5 minutes" Adrienne says as she runs to the bathroom to pee.
As Maxine is sitting around the bar table she hears her phone buzz, as she looks down she sees a text from Chris.
"Are you still at Adrienne's?" The message says.
Maxine rolls her eyes and shuts her phone off ignoring Chris's message. Maxine does not want Chris and Ronnie following her around like bodyguards.
As Adrienne walks out of the bathroom the two girls see headlights through the front window of Adrienne's house alerting them that their Uber has arrived. The two girls grabs their purses and go into the vehicle.
