At this point Maxine is completely wasted at the frat house party, she's been doing more shots that the frat boys have given her and got separated from Adrienne as they both got pulled away by different guys to dance. The guy who came over to Maxine was tall with shaggy blonde hair and blue eyes.
"What's your name" he says to Maxine trying to shout through the loud hip hop music.
"Maxine. What's yours?" Maxine replies.
"I'm Mathew" he replies as Maxine starts to feel a bit dizzy and hot from the heat of the packed frat house.
"Hey you okay?" Mathew notices.
"Yeah I'm good, I need some air I'm gonna walk outside" Maxine answers.
"Okay I'll come with you" Mathew says as he follows behind Maxine as she walks to the side door of the frat house. Maxine walks over to the front porch of the house to sit on the steps. As Maxine is sitting gazing across the street she sees a black challenger similar to the Chris and Ronnie have she immediately feels enraged.
"Do you mind going and getting me some water inside?" Maxine asks Mathew.
"Sure. I'll be right back" he replies
Maxine starts walking over to the challenger to confront Chris and Ronnie as she opens the driver door angrily she's surprised to find no one in the car. Maxine slowly breathes to relax herself and turns around and leans on the car with her eyes shut trying to catch her breath and calm her nerves. Suddenly a males hand covers Maxine's mouth.
"Be fucking quiet!" Mathew says as he's holding Maxine up against the challenger, his eyes changing to a shade of red, sharp fangs growing out of his mouth. Maxine's brown eyes widen in fear.
"You think Cerulli and Radke can protect you, I'll turn them into their uncle and have them killed" Mathew shouts.
Maxine is still squirming against Mathew while pinned up on the car.
"Now it's time to take a bite" Mathew says before taking his lips close to Maxine's next before the two connect.
Mathew gets pushed off of Maxine and she drops to the ground trying to breathe as he mascara and black eye shadow runs down her face. A few feet away she sees Chris and Ronnie ripping Mathew's arms and head off. After Mathew's head is decapitated his remains vanish into dust. Maxine is completely startled.
"Get in the car" Ronnie says to Maxine looking at her in anger. Maxine's body is frozen still she doesn't even respond as she is still in shock over what she had just witnessed.
Chris walks over to Maxine and wraps her left arm around him and lifts her up onto her feet. Still holding on ton Maxine Chris puts her in the backseat of the challenger.
The whole way home there is silence in the car among Chris Ronnie and Maxine. Maxine sits in the backseat with tears running down her face silently she sees Chris gazing at her in the review mirror. Maxine starts feeling more comfortable with him she's thankful that Chris and Ronnie saved her life but also is starting to feel love for Chris due to how caring he has been with her.
Once Chris pulls the car into his and Ronnie's long driveways as he gets out of the car he grabs Maxine's hand as he guides her into the house with Ronnie following behind.
"Well do you fucking believe us now?" Ronnie says to Maxine. As she rubs her eyes looking very upset not responding to Ronnie.
" leave her alone, it's hard to understand at first she's not used to any of this" Chris says to Ronnie.
"I'm sorry okay, I'm thankful you guys were there I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't" Maxine finally says to Chris and Ronnie.
"Well then it's our pleasure" Ronnie says with a smug attitude. As he goes over to their liquor shelf to pour a glass of whiskey.
"Do you care if I use your shower again I feel disgusting" Maxine asks.
"Yeah of course, you can use the one off my room" Chris replies.
"Okay thanks" Maxine says as she walks through Chris's bedroom door.
"You gotta stop it now" Ronnie turns to Chris holding glass of whiskey.
"What're you talking about" Chris replies.
"You're liking Maxine, like a lot" Ronnie says smirking at Chris.
"No I'm not, I just care for her I feel like she's already got enough going on in her life and now here we are" Chris replies.
"Alright whatever you say, just know I've never heard of vamps getting it on with humans. I know I'd be too tempted to take a bite" Ronnie says in a snarky tone as he starts walking up the stairs to his bedroom.
