Once upon a time, I was living the best life I could ever of imagined.
My best friend Leah, both parents together, big family home and actually popular at school. All until this happened.
My dad left us and here me and my mum now were, a tiny little house in the centre of Melbourne, Australia.
It all happened really quite quickly actually. You knew it was coming, my parents would scream the house down constantly, and then it all lead up to the night.
-Flashback-
"Mum? Dad! I'm home." I shouted with a smile bounding in through the front door.It was Friday which meant they would both be home and I was excited as my exam results were back in for the year.
All of a sudden, shouting became louder and there was a scream, I traced the noise into the kitchen.
It was silent, all I could see was my father in shock staring at his hand and my mother, tears streaming and a strong grip onto her face.
My father had slapped her.
The loving, kind, dad that I knew was no more, the only man that had stood by me and I had respected, gone.
I gasped slightly and ran up to my room crying my eyes out, not moving for days.
Until I took up the courage to walk back down those stairs and make the biggest mistake I ever had made.
From that day on he would abuse us mentally and physically until he found his new victims: a younger girl than me and her mother, and left.
It was then me and mum. My best friend. The woman I loved more than anything. Against the world.

So now, here I am. 16 year old Amber Harris, who has been living in Melbourne for the past month and starting Penola Catholic College today.
Today was the day, that would mostly likely determine a few friends, but today was also the day that I would also most likely meet a few enemies.
I was bullied a lot of my last year in the UK before I left, mainly because of a stupid rumour a boy made up that I slept with him and his brother.
From then on my life was a living hell, I couldn't go out anywhere, I got death threats, nicknames, the whole deal.
I had hoped and prayed that this school wouldn't be the same; even my best friend Leah had ditched me because she believed it.
I guess that was what toughened me up, I learnt to stand up for myself since then but it didn't really help, it was just another trick under my belt.
Hopefully something that would make an impression on my first day here.

"Ah hello sweetie! You must be the new girl Amber, yes?" I was greeted by the most annoying secretary ever known to man which really set up my hopes for the school.
"Yeah." I muttered, annoyed that even the teachers would be nickname given me 'new girl'.
"Okay! Well I have set up someone who can show you around and hopefully make buddies with you!" She said in a high pitched voice that made me cringe.
"Cheers." I replied bluntly before turning to the girl stood next to me.
"Hi!" She said politely.
"Hey." I replied smiling, might as well be nice to a few people.
"You ready for your tour! I can't explain how thankful I am, you've allowed me to miss triple maths! I'm Layla!" She said, giggling.
"I chuckled, Bea." I said holding my hand out to give hers a shake, instead she took me in for a hug.
"I hope we can be really good friends you know?" She said, making me smile and nod, my trust game wasn't exactly on point.
We set of walking, "hey, I thought your name was Amber?" She said out of the blue.
"New start, new change." I shrugged my shoulders.
"You're mysterious, I like you. Hey! Can I see your timetable, we could have the same classes!" She said making me laugh at her randomness, she reminded me of Leah before she changed which was nice I guess.
She squealed a bit, "we have all the same classes! Which also means you have all the same classes as Luke and Jai Brooks. I'm warning you now, go easy with them." She paused.
"They're the school psychos." She said, allowing it to linger in my head.
"Psychos?" I questioned.
"Just be warned, you'll figure it out for yourself." She said, coming to a stop.
--
"That's our tour done! Science is first, since we missed the first few lessons!!" She said with a bubbly tone.
"You're so cute." I said, chuckling and following her to our next lesson.
"Yeahhhhhh, yep that's me!" She replied, quoting that's so raven.
"Yes! Raven is queen!" I said laughing, coming out of my shell a little.
I think me and this girl could have potential. Friendship potential, for all you people who read way too much fanfiction or just have dirty minds.

"And that is why when we add Hydrogen oxide-" The science teacher paused and looked our way.
"And what do we bring this pleasure?" He said, urgh, I hate him already.
"Amb- Bea, here is new and
I was asked to give her a tour of the school." She replied smirking, there was another side of her!He sighed, "sit down next to Mr Brooks." He replied, gesturing to me.
Oh god.
I sat down confidently and sighed, gaining one of the Brooks brothers attention.
"Luke." He said, smirking at my boobs.
"Move your eyes away from my chest and up to my face." I said bluntly.
Not taking him back one bit, I followed his eyes up to mine.
"Feisty one, eh?" He replied, side smile.
"Only when little twats like you are staring at my boobs." I replied with a sarcastic smile.
"And British! Even better! Me and you'll be a thing by next week, you know?" I gagged.
"You want me?" I let out a laugh. "Not when your treating me like that, from now on eyes up here." I said, pointing to his, and then mine.
"You really are a little fighter aren't you? Perfect." He replied with a smug smile.
I shuddered before looking back at Layla, she glanced at me and understood right away, it was like we had known each other years.
"Miss Harris, eyes over here please. Were you even listening to what I was saying?" The guy at the front of the classroom asked.
I shrugged.
He glared at me before carrying on with his lesson.
I could feel Luke's eyes staring at me so I kept looking to the front.
First lesson at this dump and I already hated it, what else could possibly be in store.
