- 70 year time skip -

It is now the year 2014. I am a soldier for HYDRA. I have no recollection of who I am or how I have survived for so long. I have bruises and scars that I am unable to explain.

I sit alone, in my room. If you could even call it that. It's a concrete box, cold and plain and incredibly lonesome.

My number is T7-458. I am a soldier and my mission is to kill. Killing is all I know. The strength I've been gifted with is the only comfort I have.

"Wake up." A loud bang came from the large, metal door before me. Before I knew it, two large men entered the room and escorted me to another boring concrete room in which an older man sat wearing an incredibly expensive suit. He was sipping on a cup of what I could only assume to be coffee. I had met this man before, I'm almost sure of it.

"Soldier, your next mission," he leant forward and pushed a folder towards me, "Is Miss Natasha Romanoff. She is an incredibly skilled S.H.I.E.L.D assassin. Along with her; you may eliminate anyone who may stand in your way of her. She is liable to interfere with future plans. It is imperative that she is killed. You have 72 hours, although with your skillset, I imagine it'll be dealt with much sooner."

I nod and turn to leave, taking the folder with me.

"Oh and Soldier," The man called, "She is currently spending a lot of time with a Mr. Samuel Wilson and a Mr. Steven Rogers. You may want to think about taking care of them too." Although this sounded optional, it certainly was not. I was to kill all three targets, without negotiation.

My brow furrowed at the name. Steven Rogers. Why does that feel somewhat familiar? I nodded towards the man giving the orders and quickly went to gather my things.

I readied my guns and hastily placed a black mask over my face. My black hair falling soft against my shoulders. As I grabbed my bag, I couldn't shake the familiarity of one of the targets. Steven Rogers. Steven Rogers.

"Focus, Soldier." a Captain ordered as we climbed into the back of a cargo truck. I sat down and examined the folder during the trip. I immediately flipped to Steven Rogers and inspected his photo. His hair was blonde and styled, he was incredibly muscular and it said in his file, he was also known as Captain America. In the photograph, he is shown holding onto a shield with a big, silver star in the middle. Maybe that is what was so familiar; perhaps I had come across him in previous missions?

Before I knew it, we had arrived at our destination. The cargo truck dropped me off at a derelict parking lot.

"You have your orders, Soldier. Clocks ticking. We will keep nearby at all times," Said another HYDRA associate, pointing at the sky towards a helicopter circling the area, before tossing an earpiece in my direction.

I wasted no time and immediately began my search. They couldn't be too far away.

"Soldier." The old man from earlier rang through the earpiece. "The last known whereabouts of your targets is the highway overpass just directed to your left." Listening to this, I turn in the direction, and sure enough, I was met with a large, towering overpass. Finding my way up onto it, I climbed as fast as my legs could carry me. Standing tall on the edge, I began observing each car, the hunt beginning.

"Any information on the make of their vehicle, Sir?" I requested, my eyes darting across the roads.

"Look for a Silver SUV. We are trying to track the plate."

I shook my head. That hardly narrowed it down.

Luckily, above me flew the same helicopter as before. Within seconds, I heard the voice again.

"FJ-7426 coming up now on your left!" the man shouted.

Now the fun begins. I rapidly jumped from the ledge and made my way into the middle of the traffic, standing there waiting, horns beeping all around me. Sure enough, the car came to a screeching halt. I quickly observed who was who. Samuel Wilson was driving. Natasha Romanoff in the passenger seat and Steven Rogers sitting in the back. Wilson pushed down on his horn.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? GET OUTTA THE WAY!" He yelled out of the window, waving his arms about.

I smirked underneath my mask and immediately opened fire on the targets, bullets ricocheting against the previously intact windshield. The three of them spent no time wondering what to do next, as almost instantly Natasha pulled a gun and shot straight back. I noticed the three of them exchanged quick, panicked words and suddenly Steven Rogers was stood on the top of the vehicle, while Samuel and Natasha stood either side firing relentlessly, Rogers ready to throw his shield towards me. Without a second thought, I grabbed a grenade from my belt, pulled the pin and watched as it rolled underneath the car. Spending no time waiting around, I turned and ran, awaiting the explosion from behind a truck. By now, the overpass was chaos as crowds of people scrambled to find safety, pushing and shoving past each other. I watched as the targets jumped to hide trying to save their lives, Rogers holding his shield Infront of them in attempts to soften the blow.

After the explosion, I hesitated before leaving. It was crucial in missions that I checked that targets were 100% deceased before claiming completion. I slowly crept over, my gun ready to fire if need be, only to find none of the targets in sight.

"Shhit" I whispered.

"Have you got your sights on the targets, Soldier?" The man growled into my ear, causing me to jump slightly.

"Yes, Sir." I lied.

Before he could respond, bullets bounced onto the concrete beside me. I hastily ducked my head and spun around to find Samuel firing at me with a handgun and missing each time. I could see the fear in his eyes. I started toward the man, grabbed his neck and raised him up, watching as he gasped for air.

"SAM!" I heard a yell come from a few meters away. It was Natasha. I grinned beneath my mask and forcefully launched Sam into a nearby barrier, before making a run for her. She turned as quick as anything, speeding off down the overpass; I heard her speaking to someone on her own earpiece.

"Steve who the hell is this woman? She's good... And fast." I kept on her, picking up speed as I ran, unaware of Rogers approaching behind me, running inhumanly fast.

"What the-" He leaped onto me, tackling me to the ground, I let out a groan right before he brought his fist down, I managed to shift my head and dodge him by mere inches.

"Who are you?" He yelled, slightly putting his guard down. Him doing this gave me the opportunity to lift my legs and wrap them around the front of him, twisting us around so that I was now above him; I lifted my gloved hand and brought my fist down onto his face multiple times. Before I knew it, Natasha was back and had managed to vault herself onto my shoulders, giving Steven the chance to jump to his feet. I did everything I could to fight them off until Samuel arrived.

I was now cornered by my targets, I just about managed to spin Natasha around and off my shoulders, sending her hurdling towards the ground. In attempts to steady her fall, she ripped the mask away from my face.

"Abandon mission, Soldier. Abort, immediately." The voice from my earpiece echoed.

My eyes widened as I watched Rogers lower his shield and stare at me in a look of disbelief.

"Evelyn..?" He whispered. His companions looked just as confused as I felt.

I glared at him, the same wave of familiarity washing over me once again.

"Who's-" Before I could finish, the HYDRA helicopter could be heard swooping above; the targets all abandoned my eyesight and turned their attention to the sky.

I used this small window of opportunity to slip away unnoticed...
