I was jolted awake as murky water dripped onto my face. I opened my eyes and blinked, disoriented in the dark. My head spun as I tried to remember what had happened, but nothing came to me. With confusion, I tilted my head towards the sky, trying to make sense of my situation.

My heart raced as a cold chill ran down my spine. The darkness was absolute, and I could feel the static in the air. Every muscle in my body ached, but I forced myself to my feet anyway.

I shivered as the winter air bit at my exposed skin, my feet dragging through the snow with every step. As I made my way forward, I could feel my heart thudding in my chest until I finally stopped, frozen in place by fear.

I felt a heavy load pressing down on my back and I cringed, trying to shrug it off with little success. Finally, I managed to slide the straps of the backpack down my arms, biting back a moan as my cramped muscles screamed in protest.

I slowly unzipped the bag, my palms sweating and my heart racing with anticipation. When I pulled apart the sides of the bag, I gasped in shock at what I saw - a handgun gleaming in the light and a sharp knife tucked inside its sheath. My mouth dropped open as I retrieved the deadly weapons, my brain spinning with confusion. "A gun and a knife?" I whispered to myself breathlessly. "Why?"

My fingers nervously fumbled around the edges of my pocket until they finally found the cold steel of a knife, which I grabbed and stuffed in there for safety. I kept rummaging through my bag until I pulled out a crinkled piece of paper. I held it up to the light and read the hastily written message from Alex and Jane – "Hey, you're probably wondering what happened. Me too, and all we can say is that it's the end. Good luck, we love you." My mouth dropped open in shock—they just left me here to fend for myself?
