The girl stood aimlessly in the centre of the room whilst I removed the majority of my wet clothing in the hallway. Piling them up near the front door, I walked into the front room and through to the kitchen. Taking a set of pyjamas out of the basket for me, I grabbed a pair of thick tracksuit bottoms and a warm hoodie for the girl.

Taking it in to her, I approached her slowly whilst taking in her features. She looks different, really different. Older even. Her hair seems slightly longer and her face seems to of aged a couple of years. She looked around 17 on the hill but now she looks around 20. It's probably just the lighting.

I unzipped the coat and took it off her shoulders. Placing it on the chair behind me, I turned back around and looked at her again. Moving my hands up to the top of the gown, I stared into her eyes. "Can I?"

"Yes." I wasn't too sure if she knew what I meant but I went ahead anyway. Stepping closer to her, I moved her long blonde her out of the way and slipped my fingers into the knot at the back of her neck. I fiddled around with the gown until it became untied.

Moving around her, I noticed two more exactly the same. The one half way down her back was undone easily but the one that joined the bottom of the gown together was done really tight. Deciding to skip that one, I gently moved the gown off her shoulders, watching as it fell to the floor. "Oh." I didn't think about that.

Walking back into the kitchen, I fished to the bottom of the basket in search of the unopened packets of underwear. Pulling out a new pair of socks to go with it, I handed them over to the girl. She took them out of my hands an stared blankly at them. "You don't know what these are do you?"

She shook her head and then gave them back to me. "Right, lift your left leg... Good. Now your right leg... See? Simple. Do the same with these." I passed her the tracksuit bottoms and watched as she put one leg in after the other. "Good." Grabbing the hoodie, I placed it over her head and lifted her right arm and moved it into the right sleeve.

When I lifted the left arm however, something caught my eye. Moving in closer to inspect it, I found a tattoo of a bunch of random numbers. "040120 130001, what does that mean?"

"I don't know."

Running my finger along the ink, it felt as though it wasn't actually there, it felt old. This wasn't added recently. "When did it happen?"

"I don't know." I stared at it for a little while longer before placing her arm in the sleeve. There's something about that number that's gnawing away at the back of my head. But I couldn't for the life of me, figure out why. With the hoodie on, I guided her over to the couch. I sat down and moved her left foot onto my lap. I rolled the sock onto the freezing cold foot and then did the same to other.

"What do you know?" Her blank expression lead me to believe that she knew nothing. "Your name? Do you know your name?"

Confidently, she answered. "Lexi." Then she appeared deep in thought. "Well, I think it is, it feels natural enough. Tell me what you know? About you."

The question set me back a bit, what do I know about myself?

Basics. "Well, my names Rhona... Rhona Davis. I'm 26. I'm an accountant and I live with my partner, Maddie."

"Where's Maddie now?" Lexi moved her feet from my lap and crossed her legs, leaning into the cushioning of the sofa.

"In bed probably, it's way past midnight now."

"Then why aren't you with her?" That question threw me back a bit aswell.

"Um... Because I'm here with you?" I uncomfortably started to shift in my seat whilst I grabbed my hair. Removing the bobble from my wrist, I tied it up, away from my face.

"No, I meant before. Why were you outside?"

"Um..." What do I say to that? "I was just outside."

"That's not an answer." How does she manage to know absolutly nothing about herself yet still know what a real answer is?

"Are you thirsty? I could get you a glass of water if you wanted."

"Yes please." That's when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Turning my head, I waited for her to appear through the doorway. How am I going to explain this one?
