What would you do if you woke up surrounded by a large number of teenagers and a maze? Run? Hide? Isolate yourself? Cry? 17 year old William found himself in a cold moving area, his mind devoid of any recollections. The only fragment of his identity he clung to was his name—Will. As he stood there, grappling with the loss of his memories, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of confusion and uncertainty about who he truly was and how he had ended up in this situation. Surrounding him was a group of curious teenagers peering down at him. Among them was a young girl named Alice, who boldly leaped into the cold metal structure to strike up a conversation with the bewildered boy. "Hey there, newbie. I'm Alice," she greeted, extending her hand. Will smiled and shook it, grateful for the friendly face. "I'm Will. I don't remember much. Just my name," he replied, his confusion broadening.

As Will glanced around, he noticed the intense gaze of the other teens fixing on him. Eager to make sense of his surroundings, he asked, "What is this place?" Alice, however, began pacing away without answering, leading him towards a building constructed from the wood of the surrounding forest. Will hurried after her, catching up as they entered the towering structure.

Alice began to explain, "This is the maze, or rather, the glade. It's where we live. Every month, the box sends up new supplies and a fresh face. This time, it's you. I'm the leader here because I was the first one to arrive in the box." Will tried to process the information as they stepped into a room filled with hammocks and neatly folded blankets. He then followed Alice through another door to a separate area with more hammocks, where he saw a young man hanging another one, which would be Will's. "This is Will, the new guy," Alice introduced.

The young man, Aaron, paused his work and extended his hand to shake Will's. They exchanged greetings and a firm grip before Aaron resumed tying the ropes of the hammock. Alice slipped away, leaving the two boys to finish setting it up. Just as they completed the task, a loud screeching sound pierced the air, followed by the closing of a massive door.

"What the hell was that?" Will exclaimed, startled.

"That's the maze door," Aaron explained. "It closes at dusk and opens again at dawn, keeping the Grievers out."

"Grievers? What are they?" Will asked, his curiosity spiking.

"I'm not sure. I'm just a cook, so I'm not allowed in the maze. There are only three people allowed in there: Fred, Brian, and Maisey," Aaron replied with a sigh before preparing to leave. "I'll catch up with you later."

"Goodbye," Will said, waving as Aaron departed through the back door. Stepping outside, he encountered another teenager named Jack, who introduced himself as the second in command. Will exchanged pleasantries and, upon reaching into his pocket, discovered a folded piece of paper. Unfolding it, he read the words, "He's the last one. I'm the last one. Last what?" He furrowed his brow in confusion.

As the sun began to set, marking the end of his first day in the glade, Will couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. Over the following days, the group of runners devised a plan for escape, as they had done before. But this time, they sensed they were making progress. They had discovered a new path leading to an area infested with Grievers. However, as days turned into a month, the box failed to return, and unease settled among the inhabitants of the glade.

Will found himself ostracised by the glade's inhabitants, who blamed him for their troubles. Only Aaron remained loyal, offering solace in the midst of suspicion. Feeling the weight of their judgement, Will yearned for acceptance.

As fear gripped Alice, she devised a plan for escape. Gathering those who shared her desire, she led them into the maze at daybreak, driven by the hope of freedom.

Isolated and plagued by doubt, Will watched as they departed, his heart aching with longing. He questioned his role in their plight, yearning for a chance to prove himself.

Will and Aaron followed the others, questioning the blame. The runners took charge and led them to the new path, revealing the home of the Grievers. They confronted the terrifying creatures, ready to uncover the truth.

Out of nowhere, a Griever emerged, startling the entire group. Reacting swiftly, Will surged forward, raising his weapon to fend off the creature. Meanwhile, Chloe and Leah, the first aiders of the group, managed to open a stone door, revealing a keypad with a code.

"Jack!" Leah called out between the Griever's groans. "What's the sequence?"

Tension hung in the air as they awaited Jack's response, their hopes pinned on his knowledge to unlock the mystery concealed within the keypad. "71526483!"

Jack, slow down!" Chloe's scream echoed through the air.
"Seven!"
"One!"
"Five!"
"Two!"

Startled by Chloe's cry, Jack came to a sudden halt just as a griever lunged at him. Alice, his girlfriend, called out his name in distress. With a burst of courage, she pushed the griever away, freeing Jack to continue shouting the sequence.
"Six!"
"Four!"
"Eight!"
"Three!"

As the group stepped into the chamber, the stone door sealed shut, plunging them into darkness. However, just as they adjusted their eyes to the dark, a door behind them creaked open, revealing a long, tunnel-like hallway.

With caution, they ventured down the corridor, eventually encountering a door on their left. Intrigued, they pushed it open, only to come face to face with a chilling sight—a group of individuals, seemingly lifeless, who were once under the employ of the organisation responsible for trapping them in the maze: WCKD.

As they moved deeper into the room, their attention was immediately drawn to an array of computer screens that plastered the walls. The screens had monitored their every move during their time inside the glade.

Unable to resist his curiosity, 12 year old Luke pressed a button on one of the screens, triggering the appearance of a woman on its display. Her face carried a mix of authority and intrigue, capturing the group's attention. Her voice resonated through the room, as if holding the key to unravelling the mysteries that surrounded them.

They stood there, fixated on the screen, eager to uncover the secrets this enigmatic woman held. The group awaited the woman's words, hoping they would find the reason for their capture.

The video suddenly went blank, replaced by a screen filled with static. Just then, a group of five men armed with big guns stormed into the room, positioning themselves around the perimeter. The scorching sun outside beat down on them, making the air feel as crisp as a potato chip. They quickly boarded helicopters and soared high above the sandy desert, peering out of the windows at the maze, which now seemed much smaller than when they were trapped inside it. The silence was now trapped as no words could escape the young survivors. Everyone was now as quiet as a mouse but was now giving each other friendly grins.
