The boy was sleeping deeply. Usually, Elijah wakes up late and sleeps till the afternoon but today he had been woken up by the dog. It still was morning when he opened his eyes

8:23 a. m. – the dragon hour

It is certainly not noon. Elijah decided to have a quick nap but the dog didn't let him do it. He stood up and went to the entrance. The boy had to follow him. He limped after the dog rubbing his eyes and trying to stay awake. When Elijah got out of the cabin, the sun shone bright and straight into his eyes. He squeenched and stopped. The dog approached Elijah and pocked him in the hand with his nose. Elijah petted the dog's head and walked along. They returned to the market. All the booths were open already, so that means that buying their breakfast wasn't so much of a deal. The boy decided to get to the booth from where he had bought these scrumptious steam buns last evening. The woman he had met yesterday was standing behind the counter. She had just sold some steam buns to a group of teenagers. Elijah greeted her, and the dog did so too, expressing his happiness of seeing the lady once again with the mean known only by dogs – with a bark. The woman smiled pleasantly and asked what she could serve them today. Unfortunately, there was no bone this morning, so Elijah bought 2 bean buns for himself and 3 meat buns for the dog. He also remembered that when he becomes a student, there will be no lack of money in his pocket and he will be able to buy everything he wants. When they finished the meal, the boy and the dog returned back to the cabin. At 10 a.m. – the snake hour – Elijah decided to start his trail to the sect's gates. The dog followed him obediently. They went out of town. It was about 20 feet away from the time they spend the night at. In the measuring system of the world, it was equal to 17 zheng

The young boy was whistling a happy tune and going to the mountains. Elijah thought about what in the world he could do to win the competition. Of course, he could climb a tree like he used to do in his childhood but he still knew nothing about the capabilities of the body he ended up stuck in. First things first, he should practice as soon as he reaches the gates. When he reached the gates, he saw some children standing in front of them. He had seen most of the boys in the town. When he tilted his head and looked up, he saw even more kids climbing up the trees. There were so many people that Elijah hesitated for a moment before going near a tree and thoroughly looking at a boy who tried to reach the top of it. They were pretty – slow. When Elijah thought that there is no way they are going to increase their speed at any rate, the System appeared

"Good job! The first part of the quest is completed! You have reached the sect. There are two more parts left! The first one is to complete with the other adherents you see around you. The first one is to win and join the sect. Good luck!" The System almost disappeared but Elijah called to her within his mind

"Wait! Why no one pays attention to you? Are you invisible to them?" The system nodded. My second question is why are they so slow?"

The System looked at the kids, then turned to Elijah and smiled

"These kids had never climbed a single tree in their lives. Almost all of those who are present are descendants of the families that you can call blue blood. They lived in the luxury and comfort of big cities from their birth. Trying to stick with the image their family had created, they had never had the fun of the type you had in your past life. They had to learn grammar and calculus, and they studied music, history, and martial arts, but most of the time the practice of the last field consisted only of the theory of handling their weapons. So it is the first time for most of them"

Oh, now I really got it. The people here really do care about their reputation. And that's how the main character managed to beat all of them in the competition. Being an orphan, Bao Fayang had no one to support him and this left him with no roof above his head. He had nothing else to do but to wander about the city streets and fight other orphans, animals even. Stray dogs often made him climb trees. That's how he probably evolved the skill. Thinking about it, made me even more reassured about the abilities of the body I was trapped in. Yes, it's pretty lean and my ribcage is visible, almost protruding my skin, but I have the stamina that I have already checked just to be sure. My legs didn't hurt even though I walked all day long, so this body was capable of pretty much anything. But to climb a tree one also needs to have a brain, and not just brawn. One needs to take in mind where to step and to what branch to hold. I decided to sit under a tree with no one to occupy it. The dog lay next to me. I stroked his head. There was nothing left for me but to sit and wait for the gates to open
