Chapter Five

When the ten of them arrived at the NCT 127 house, Julia saw Johnny receive a phone call but he ignored it.

On their ride back they witnessed thunder and lightning and soon after they got inside, the rain started to fall hard.

"Good thing we made it inside before we got rained on." Haechan said as he went to his bedroom to go clean his shoes.

"News says it's going to rain for a minute." Yuta read from his phone.

"Maybe you should stay here for the night, You can take my bed and I'll take the couch." Jaehyun nudged Julia.

"I just live down the street. It's not even a 10 minute walk." Julia said.

"I agree with Jaehyun. You should stay here and I'll drive you home tomorrow." Johnny said sincerely.

Julia sent him a questioning look. She wondered what he had going on his mind. He's been confusing her all day, from his relationship with Hyuni to asking for her phone number. Now he wants her to stay in his house. It's all confusing.

"Okay, I'll stay. But you sleep in your bed and I'll take the couch." She said to Jaehyun, holding up her hand to silence him when he tries to disagree with the sleeping arrangements.

"Fine." Jaehyun zipped his lips.

"Good." She said before turning to Johnny who was too close to her. "And I'd prefer Jaehyun to drive me home."

Jaehyun blinked in surprise, he was sure Julia would rather be with her childhood friend she hadn't seen in awhile. Maybe he meant more to her than Johnny did. He forced down his smile at the thought.

"Jul-" Johnny tried to talk to her but she ignored him.

"Then it's settled." She looked over to Jaehyun. "Can I get a glass of water?"

"One glass of water coming up." He smiled.

"Thanks, I'm going to go use the restroom." She felt the alcohol starting to kick in.

In the bathroom, she talked to her reflection in the mirror.

"Julia you're going to be fine. This isn't the first time you've slept over at house filled with guys. Okay wait that sounds wrong. The last time was during an overnight school trip that your mother was late signing you up for resulting in you having to sleep in the boys cabin." She washed her hands.

"Johnny was there too. He tried to make it fun so you wouldn't feel uncomfortable being the only girl there."

A flashback of an eleven year old Julia and a thirteen year old Johnny back in Chicago played in her mind.

"Hey Johnny! Come play basketball with us!" A little boy on the trip said.

He looked back at his friend who sat alone before turning down the opportunity. "My legs have been killing me all day, I think I'll stay in and rest."

The little boy shrugged and ran off to join the game with his friends.

"Want to play Uno?" He asked his bestfriend.

She nodded and crossed her legs. She knew he really enjoyed playing basketball and to turn a game down to keep her company showed how much she meant to him.
