Ugh, it's Monday. I swung my feet from my bed and slowly got up. I slammed on my alarm clock with my big fist and it shut off, I think I broke it. Whatever, I needed a new alarm clock anyways, mine was the old fashioned kind so it wasn't that great. I pushed myself off from my bed and trudged over to my closet, then I picked out a gray t-shirt and some cargo pants. I pulled on some socks and slipped into my slides, I didn't feel like doing much today.

I pushed my door open to find my mom climbing up the stairs to wake me up, I tend to ignore my alarm clock and sleep in.

"Morning, Derek" My mom greeted me with a smile

I ignored her attempt to cheer me up, I'm still mad at her for embarrassing me infront of all my friends, She yelled from across the room if whether or not I should keep my spongebob squarepants boxers, while all my friends were over! They still haven't let that go for 5 days! I stomped down the stairs and grabbed and apple from the fruit bowl, then I grabbed my keys, which I stuffed into my pocket, and I grabbed my backpack. I seized the door knob and threw the door open and then slammed it shut behind me. It only took me 5 steps to realize that I didn't do anything to get ready, I didn't brush my teeth, didn't put on deodorant, and I didn't fix my hair up. I grabbed mints from my bag and stuffed them in my mouth, that solved the toothbrush problem but I still didn't fix anything else, I ran fingers through my hair, okay, two down, one to go. I smelt my armpits, and the B.O. wasn't that bad, besides, the ladies appreciate a manly odor. I continued walking and sat at my bus stop, my best bud, Chad was waiting there listening to music.

"Hey! Chad! Meh bro!" I walked over to him and fist-pumped him

"Sup, D. Hey, I heard a hot chick transferred here. Wanna check her out at lunch?" Chad asked.

"Sure, I bet ya she's blonde." I suggested, I got a thing for blondes, don't judge me!

Chad nodded and he looked up just in time to see the bus lazily rolling over to us. The bus screeched to a stop and the doors flung open, I stepped in the bus and tried not to look at the fat old lady who drives the bus. She has warts and welts all over her face and she always has the smell of smoke and alcohol lingering on her. I walked over to the end of the bus and sat next to Adrian. He was one of the friends who knew about my spongebob boxers. Sigh. Adrian has dark chocolate skin and near to black eyes. He had a little afro but it wasn't those things with the picks stuck in it, that was just corny. He wasn't bad looking, alot of girls crushed on him but other guys did way better.

"Spongebob boxers" He coughed

Geez, when was he gonna let that go.... I took out my Ipod and put in my earplugs, blasting My Chemical Romance into my ears. Sometimes, music is my only escape from the torture room we call high school. The bus parked in front of our school and everybody got up to get out. We slowly shuffled out of the bus liked the bored zombies we are. As soon as my foot hit the concrete, 10 different girls came up to me and tried to flirt. No offense guys, but I don't date sluts. I push my way through them and headed over to my classroom, the bell was about to ring.

I opened the door and walked into my math class, Mr.Underweiser was scribbling on the board.

"Goodmorning!" He said cheerfully

He didn't even say my name, I bet you he forgot it. He was nice, but stupid so I just smiled back and took my seat in the back. Jake and Kyle sat to my right then a really ugly girl, I think her name is Gabby, sat to my left. I threw my backpack on the floor next to me and sat back.

"Hello" Gabby was staring at me. Like most girls, she had a crush on me.

I didn't bother to answer, she would totally ruin my reputation if I was caught talking to her. So I turned my head to Jake

"Did you hear about the new girl? Heard she is hot." I asked

Jake shook his head but kept on listening, he was obviously interested.

"She is blonde, she transferred from Canada too!"

Jake high-fived me and we both laughed, Mr.Underweiser told us to settle down and we all fell silent when he called the new girl to the front.

"Class, I would like you to meet our new student, River Potts."

My jaw dropped and I stared into her ocean blue eyes. She had dirty blonde hair with natural highlights here and there, her upper lip was thin and her bottom lip was plump. When she caught me staring at her she smiled, revealing her perfect white teeth. I was falling head over heels for her.

"Alright, um....Derek! I would like you to help River catch up on what we are learning, so sit in the front with her and teach her what is going on." Mr. Underweiser demanded.

I smiled and cooly smiled, but inside my head, I was cheering and jumping off walls. I got up from my seat and grabbed my bag, then strut over to the front seat and plopped onto my seat. River looked at me and smiled "Hi, I'm River Potts. Oh wait! Well duh, you already know my name." River blushed, embarrassed. "I-Im....um...D-Derek......Derek Waters." God, I was so stupid.

"Nice to meet you, Derek." She stook out her hand and I took it. Her hand was so soft. I just want to hold it forever.

"Um...Are you okay?" River asked me, she noticed that I hadn't let go of her hand yet.

I quickly took my hand back and shoved my hands into my pocket. See! Stupid. I taught her the parts of our chapter that I remember. When were done, class was almost over.

"So, who do you have next?" I asked, hoping she would have my 2nd period too.

She looked down at her schedule "Mrs.Cala."

"Oh it's Dr.Farone, the school got mixed up with her name so Mrs.Cala is actually Dr.Farone. Portable C, right?"

She looked down at her schedule again and nodded.

"Great, I'll walk with you."

"So you're trying to get me to like you, right?"
