"Pero bestfriends na tayo 'diba?""May choice ba 'ko?"
If only she knew what being her bestfriend meant then Leni would have probably stopped to think it over. A thousand times, if necessary.
Because surely, hauling the dead drunk senator on her back was not in her definition as her friend. She had never, even once, did that for her other friends. But then again, she had never made out with her other friends too.
"Jusko, Risa." Leni muttered as she jerked Risa on her back, her legs shaking and aching from the weight. The other woman wasn't heavy, but she wasn't that strong either at that time too, so needless to say, it was just a horrible combination.
She turned her head to her right and her nose almost bumped onto Risa's. The other woman had her head resting on her right shoulder, cheek pressed and head facing her.
"Ang yabang mo pang sabihin na hindi ka na nalalasing," Leni whispered.
"Hello, VP Leni?"
Leni furrowed her eyebrows and took her phone away from her ears, glancing at the screen that was displaying an unknown number. She brought it back to her ear.
Placing the phone in between her ear and shoulder, Leni kept her eyes on the road as she drove in and out of traffic.
"Who's this?"
It was a Friday night and Leni was peacefully driving towards Risa's office, her daughters were in Naga while she's staying in Manila today as she attended a meeting that needed her presence so she decided to drop by the senator's office.
"Staff po ni Senator Risa."
"Ah, yes." Leni said as she realized who it was as she already met some of the other woman's staff but she immediately frowned, "Bakit ka napatawag?"
"Pupunta po ba kayo sa office ni Ma'am?"
"Yes. On the way na."
The staff on the other line sighed as if a torn was removed from her chest, "Naku salamat naman po VP."
"Bakit? May nangyari ba kay Sen Risa?" Leni gripped her steering wheel and almost dropped her phone at the thought of Risa being caught up in trouble.
But her staff just took a deep breath and it somehow eased her worries.
"See it for yourself nalang po, VP."
Leni chuckled at the memory of seeing Risa sprawled on her desk, with her staff helplessly looking at her. They had a party with other Senators and of course, there were alcoholic drinks.
She continued to stare at her, and couldn't help but let out a small smile. Risa had her eyes closed with her long eyelashes spread out messily yet perfectly just below her eyelids, and her lips were slightly parted.
Leni shook her head.
"Natutuluan mo na ako ng laway pero ang ganda mo pa rin. Kakaiba ka talaga, Risa."
She sighed but she didn't let her eyes drift away from her and Leni wanted nothing at the moment but to poke the fluffy, flustered cheeks that were laid out for her to touch. Too bad her hands were full.
With one last glance, Leni hoisted her up even more and firmly held her by her thighs, making sure that the legs that were wrapped around her hips were secured before walking towards Risa's condo unit.
She grunted and groaned with every step, heaving and puffing as she reached the building entrance with difficulty. Thank God for the vitamins, kinakaya ko pa 'to. She whispered. Standing in front of the elevator, Leni realized that she didn't know Risa's unit number.
