Her crying subsided as she thought of how she had been in previous relationships. She was firm, self-sufficient, and headstrong. The sadness instantly diminished when she heard the lawyer laugh. She will never forgive Leni for hurting her like this, like ever. The former vice president had profoundly damaged her and she decided that she was going to make her hurt just as much, if not more. The weakness for Leni in her heart had now been replaced by hatred. Rage fueled her to stand strong on her two feet. She wiped her eyes, held her head up, and took a deep breath. She was going to put an end to this and kick the two-timing cheater out of her life instantly because she knew herself that she doesn't deserve this kind of treatment; she knows the love that she deserved and being with a cheater doesn't include it.
But deep inside her, she still knew that Leni wouldn't do this to her. She's not the kind of person who would hurt her. She knows her, all too well. Leni was the one her bodyguard called when she broke down all of a sudden because the guy she was dating at that time broke up with her through text and the vice president at that time immediately dropped everything she was doing just to go and check on her as she knows how devastated Risa was to the point that she's the only person who could calm her— just with her presence.
But how could she convince herself that all of this is not true when she could hear it with her own ears?
"How dar–"
The words were caught in her throat and the blood drained from her face. The scene before her left her dumbstruck. There were no hastily discarded clothes on the floor, nor were there any compromising positions. There was Leni, on the couch, she was wearing her usual black tank top with a thin strap and she had headsets on, game controllers in hand, and eyes glazed as she stared at the large TV.
"No, they got me! Revive me!" the woman on screen screamed, which was a character in the video game.
Leni gasped, "Oh god, wait! Lagot ako sa apo ko kapag namatay ka. Hala! You're dead.."
A huge 'mission failed' flashed on the screen as the character died.
Turns out that she was playing a game on behalf of her grandson, Alonso, who already left because his mom finished her clinic duty earlier than normal and fetched him. She threw her controller on the floor and raised her arms up over her head, making her fine forearms stretch as she flopped back on the couch, eyes closing in frustration.
"Nakakainis naman."
Risa was still standing in the same position, shocked and embarrassed of herself. Oh. I knew it, she wouldn't cheat on me. She thought.
Leni peeked through one eye and immediately stood up, flinging the headset off, and walked her way as quickly as she can.
"Ris, what's wrong? Anong nangyari, umiyak ka ba? Bakit? Huy.. tell me what's wrong."
Leni had pulled her into a warm embrace. She felt the lawyer's lips on her temple and it was just too much to bear. This woman was so intuned with her emotions. She broke down in tears as the other woman stroked her hair and whispered comforting words.
"Shhh.. it's okay, darling. I'm here. I got you, you can calm down."
It was the same words Leni would always say whenever she needed comfort, It's okay. I got you, I'm here. She never changed, not a bit. May it be a stressful day at work or a frustrating issue she discovers that always gets to Risa's patience, it would always be those words from her that will make her calm her senses.
It's okay. I got you, I'm here.
"Nakakainis ka, VP."
Not Leni, Lens, or even Love but VP. For six years and even after her term last year, some people would still call her that but it's not the same when Risa would call her that as it's a sign that she's really mad or annoyed at her when they became a couple.
