chapter 2: the unnoticed becomes noticed

it's 10pm and they arrive at the fair. it closes in 2 hours.

all the members get their bracelets and are wearing clothes that doesn't show too much of their identity to prevent chaos. they all consider a look around and spot the ferris wheel.

"i want to get on the ferris wheel first!" sunoo quickly says with excitement; shining again with his warm smile.

all the members agree and head their way into the long line patiently waiting. it's quite noisy. very bright filled with rainbow colors.

*at a distance a female is heard crying , fighting with her toxic boyfriend*

"no! how could you cheat on me and give me a promise ring 2 days ago?! this is why i wish my family would've never arranged a marriage with you! why am i hopeful then end up being treated like garbage?! i regret coming here to hear your lies!" she appears anxious and doesn't seem to be calming down any time soon.

the members don't seem notice, but jay turns and sees her in a mental breakdown. she's wearing a white-pearl jacket which makes her stand out and is effortlessly a natural beauty. she has dark brown hair. she's half american and half korean.

"look, deidre, i'm sorry i cheated on you! i also detest the fact that we come from wealthy families and are subjected to forced marriage! i have become tired of you so rapidly! you regard yourself so highly and show no respect for me!"

her toxic boyfriends yells back at her creating fists. he's gone completely wild. he's wearing a solid black jacket and even has his current girlfriend waiting in the car for him to be done.

why is he talking to her like that? jay thinks to himself. he's feeling furious even though it doesn't involve him. he focuses on the argument; giving a death stare towards the guy. silently.

"go away rein! here's your stupid PROMISE ring BACK! go back to your girlfriend and live a regrettable life!" she throws the ring to him aimlessly. she's hurting a lot on the inside and cries to her hands.

rein catches jay staring at him and he swiftly avoids eye contact. he walks away and goes into his car then drives away.

deidre continues to cry and slowly walks to sit on the bench not being able to process her feelings all at once. why me ? why can't i have a proper life where my family doesn't choose for me!

jay gets out of line

"i'll be back, so carry on without me!" he shouts out to the members who are about to get on the ride next. the members were confused and were hesitant on walking forward. jake is concerned and asks, "did something happen? jay has never created such a scene before."

they all knew it was something serious this time.

"maybe something did happen? but why? i thought he didn't know anyone around here? or is it a family emergency? i'm not sure, but i'll speak with jay hyung later" jungwon says trying to calm down the situation. "now let's enjoy our ride and find jay after this?" they all agree.

jay runs around the fair looking for water. he spots a guy selling water bottles.

"hello! can i please have one water bottle and a few napkins?" jay asks quickly, but politely. he has a face as if his whole world has fallen apart.

"that will be $2.00"

jay hands him $5.00

"keep the change." jay grabs the water bottle and napkins as fast as possible. he suddenly smells cotton candy. maybe cotton candy will help her cheer up

he runs over to the food truck and quickly orders a bag of cotton candy

"it will be $3.50 please" the female seller says. she notices his hands are full while trying to reach his wallet.

his hands seemed to shake , but the female doesn't say much about it since she herself has to focus on her job.

jay pulls out a $10 bill and tells her to keep it.

he carefully grabs the cotton candy and runs back looking for the girl (deidre.) he is almost like a meerkat , scanning everywhere. he sees her in the same bench. calmer, but still sober.

he quietly runs towards her direction; trying not to bump into people.

he gently lays down the cotton candy and opens up the water bottle for her; leaving it beside her. he hands her the napkins.

"thank you." she says quietly and has possesion of them. her nose is stuffy and her eyes are puffy. she doesn't even question who he is; she just accepts his company. she wipes her tears and clears her nose.

"don't waste your energy on a jerk like him. he isn't worth crying over" jay says to deidre as she slowly starts to cry again because of how hurt she is.

jay widens his eyes not wanting to make a girl cry, so he quickly gets up and starts to leave the spot. he then remembered that he had to return with the enhypen members.

"ni-ki take a photo of me and jake" heeseung says while they're on the ferris wheel enjoying the view. ni-ki snaps a photo without thinking much of it.

"thank you bro" jake says to ni-ki winking at him just to tease him around. the aussie blood indeed lives in jake.

jay sees that the members are barely getting off the ride. he sprints towards them to assure them that he didn't mean to cause any trouble.

"i'm sorry i left, i'm ok, i'm just a bit scared of heights." jay explains being almost breathless. they notice his wallet sticking out a little from his pocket, but don't say anything about it.

[paparazzi comes] *click* *click* *click*

the members try to avoid chaos and pose for 2-3 minutes.

deidre notices the same guy (jay). she became curious as to who he was and why there is paparazzi. could he possibly be famous? she opens up twitter and sees 'enhypen' trending.

she scrolls.

"oh! he's a kpop idol?! seems like they're on a world tour. ahhh this is so embarrassing!" deidre talks to herself feeling embarrassed wanting to rip her hair out. "maybe i should thank him for helping-"

before her eyes flashed, they were already gone. enhypen has left.

the anonymous boy remains to make her feel okay. she felt disappointed he was gone. she wanted to thank him and apologize for causing trouble. she silently leaves back to her aunt's home where she has family staying in.
