chapter 3: behind the scenes

[enhypen are now on the airplane , preparing to launch to their home; seoul, south korea]

jay is sitting with sunghoon. right behind them, ni-ki is sitting with jake. sunoo is sitting with jungwon. and heeseung is siting all by himself because he won rock paper scissors like always.

they're all wearing comfortable clothes as the plane is going to be a 6 hour ride.

jay is about to put on his airpods, but before he can, sunghoon interrupts him

"jay, it was probably a private matter, but why did you run off last night?" sunghoon curiously asks turning his heads towards him waiting for a response.

jay pauses for 2 seconds and says "oh that was because i saw a guy selling corn from a distance, and because i was hungry i wanted some. they were also running out so i had to run" jay responds back to sunghoon. after all jay didn't want to be calling out the girl. he only felt bad for her that's all.

sunghoon laughs pointing his finger towards jay. "wahhhh how bold of you. i thought you ripped your pants or something" sunghoon says jokingly.

"if i ripped my pants i would've gone to the staff, penguin" jay says to sunghoon making a face because he felt offended by him.

"aigoooo just put on your airpods then" sunghoon says accepting his response. the 'black cat sure is tired' sunghoon thinks to himself. he decided to play video games on his phone.

[the plane takes off; now in the sky]

jay connects his airpods to his iphone 14 and opens up spotify.

hmmm what song should i play? he wonders.

he opens up his playlist 'traveling✈️'

he wants to clear his head so he plays 'the perfect girl - the motion retrowave remix' by mareux , the motion

as the song keeps playing, the music to his ears while enjoying the view is a masterpiece. all his thoughts had vanished, but he couldn't stop thinking about the girl. not because he feels something romantic, but more because he has never approached a girl that way.

he only accepts the fact that he only did was was right and returned back into reality.

the song ends.

heeseung wants to post on twitter since he's been quite inactive recently.

as jay was looking for another song, he suddenly heard heeseung requesting the photos and him talking about the fair.

"ay ni-ki can you airdrop me the photos you took of me and jake last night from the fair at the ferris wheel?" heeseung asks ni-ki ; he's currently wearing a black beanie, a navy baggy t-shirt, and grey sweatpants. nothing excessive.

jay was immediately drawn to it. jay's eyes grew wider and he began to have a face like he had committed a crime.

ni-ki turns beside him and tells heeseung "sure, wait"

jay quickly turns behind him. "ni-ki can i use your phone real quick? i need it to message my parents. my phone is dead." jay rushes the words so ni-ki only hears 'phone, dead, and parents' so he gives it to him.

jay grabs his iphone; lowering the brightness. he tilts it towards the window so that sunghoon doesn't see even though he's already distracted playing call of duty on his iphone.

he opens up ni-ki's gallery.

he sees like 3 or 4 photos of the fair and quickly deletes them.

"uh-huh omma, i'm now heading down to south korea. mmmm, let dad know too. i've got to go now, bye" jay says pretending to be on call with his mom.

"thank you ni-ki, i called them instead" jay says normally, handing ni-ki back his phone. ni-ki just accepts his phone.

oh right the photos. ni-ki thinks to himself.

he opens up his gallery.

he is confused on why there's only one photo when he took five. he is questioning with a confused face wondering if jay did anything, but doesn't want to bother him so he just accepts it as it is.

hmm i'll just use this photo that's still here and airdrop it to heeseung hyung. ni-ki thinks to himself. still weirded out but continues.

ni-ki sees two names similar and doesn't know which is heeseung's iphone name so he decides to send it to heeseung through messages. 'ramen ace hyung'

heeseung receives the photo and takes a good-clear glance at it making sure he doesn't look bad.

he notices jay standing up looking towards a girl, but she's in the bench with a napkin. he notices the cotton candy and water bottle beside her as well.

"are they both a thing? or did he just happen to run into her?" heeseung quietly says to himself making sure he avoids being heard by anyone. he looks at jay , but he seems to be looking out the window.

heeseung decides to give him a text.

jay feels a vibrant coming through his phone knowing it's a notification. he sees it's from heeseung 'jason derulo' and opens it up.

'hey, did something happen last night at the fair?'

jay was hoping that he didn't find out. his heartbeat started to beat faster than usual. how can i respond to this? he thinks to himself.

heeseung was looking at him. he sees that he saw the message, but isn't typing back.

he starts typing after 7 seconds.

'it was nothing serious, i was just wondering around, why?' jay responds back.

heeseung was debating on whether he should send the photo or not.

at last minute he decides not to send it because jay really looks beat and after all it's a 6 hour plane ride.

he also decides to keep the photo and plans to confront him about it soon to clear up any misunderstandings.
