5 Years Later

I wiped the buggy down with the provided wipes from the dispenser before placing my tote purse in the child's seat.

Me and my best friend Vanessa are currently in the grocery store, getting ingredients for Axton's birthday party. Tomorrow marks the day my baby turns 5, tomorrow marks the day that I've been loving his hardheaded self for 1,825 days.

Me and V decided we were going to home make his birthday cake, raspberry cheesecake, his favorite.

I know, such a unique taste for someone who's 5.

I've already scheduled the time of the party and who's coming, I ordered bouncy houses, and miniature cars for the kids to ride in. Axton sure knows how to run my pockets out.

V ordered some other stuff too that he'd and the other kids coming would like, like mini pools, face painters, a dancing ben-10 which Axton is obsessed with, you name it.

V has been very helpful to me, making me not feel alone and helped me raise Axton. God blessed me with a friend like her because I don't know where I would've been now.

5 years ago, I was a wreck. Everything crushed down on me, and I didn't know what to do, I could barely look at my son back then sometimes but now, I've gotten back on my feet.

Life doesn't stop, I had to learn that the hard way.

I unlocked my phone, looking at my notes app where the ingredients displayed on the screen, making sure I won't forget anything from the store.

I made my way down the frozen isle, searching for whipped cream.

"I'm going to go down the other side of the store to see if they have any food coloring and edible paint," Vanessa announces to me as I nod my head, putting my focus back on the groceries I'm looking for.

Vanessa majored in art, so she decided to paint Ben-10 on the cake for Axton which is the cutest thing ever.

Once I spotted it, I deleted the whipped cream from my list and made my way down to the utensils before I heard buzzing in my purse.

"Hello?" I answered without reading the contact, only to be caught by the voice of my guy friend.

"Well, hello there to you beautiful, I've been texting you all day, but you haven't responded, watchu doing?" Jaden questions as a small smile came onto my lips with his compliment.
