This book came to be because of two things: Anger and desperation. It's easy to get lost in the chaotic riptide that's called life. It's easy to be angry at what we feel we have little control over. Sometimes anger makes us desperate for escape. At a time when I felt like I didn't know which direction life was taking me, writing found me. And Crescent came to be.

This book has been five years in the making. Five years of working full-time, taking classes, and spending whatever precious moments I had scrawling ideas away in a notebook. I could not be more proud of the world I built within these pages. Whether it's the magic or the characters- or the smell of Janice's sweet buttery delights- I can picture it all so clearly. I hope that as readers, Crescent comes alive for you the way it has for me.

I want to especially thank my partner, Justin, who gave me the time, the space, and the final push to finish this book. Thank you for listening to me fan-girl over magic bread recipes and for laughing with me- even when you had no idea what the hell I was on about. Without you, this book would be nothing more than a half-finished heap in a trashcan.

To Meg, who helped me edit, critique, and obsess over the details that made this book its own: Thank you. You are my rock in all-things-bookish, and it was with you that my love for fiction took hold. Thank you for sneaking me those smutty romance novels when we DEFINITELY weren't supposed to read them. Without you, there wouldn't be book two. ;) ;)

To my parents, who gave me the resources to find writing in the first place- and for the time and utensils to fuel my coffee-induced writing stupors. Whether it was the coffee itself or the paper, ink, and writing platforms that helped this book flourish, I don't know that I'd exist without any of it. Thank you.

Last- but never least- thank you to my readers. Writing wouldn't be half as gratifying as it is without you. Thank you for the praise and the incredible feedback through every step of the Publishing process. Debut novelists don't become New York Best Selling authors overnight, and I certainly didn't have the courage to try without you. Whether you've been here since the beginning or you're just now hopping on for the ride, your time and support are the reason that writers do what they do. I can not be more grateful for the community we're building together.
