Kyle's Pov

"Have you heard?" Some kid was asking me.

"Heard what?" I replied, uninterested.

"Wendy Testagburger is moving! I heard it's because of her dick boyfriend."

"We are seniors. Why are we still gossiping like fourteen-year-old girls?" I shot through gritted teeth.

"Yaknow, there's a rumor going around that you and Stan are dating." The boy continued, completely ignoring me.

"I truly don't care about the rumors and Stan was not the dick." I replied, speeding up and walking away.

It's been three days since Stan and Wendy broke it off. It's also been three days since I've seen Stan. So that's why I'm speed-walking out of the school to his house.

I walked up the porch and knocked on the door.

"Kyle, hello! We've been expecting you." Mrs. Marsh answered the door. She had worry written all over her face.

"Yeah, I decided it's about time I came and saw how he was."

"You are such a lovely young boy. Please, come in." She moved out of the doorway so I could step inside.

"Thank you Mrs. Marsh." I smiled, walking towards the steps.

I made my way up to his room and stood at the door a minute, contemplating knocking or not. I decided against it and opened the door.

Stan was spread out on his bed, computer on his lap.

I shut the door behind me and sat on his bed next to him.

"Hey dummy." I smiled, setting a hand softly on his cheek.

"Hey Ky," He replied quietly, his voice scratchy.

"What are you doing?" I asked once he turned his head back to the computer and I sat down, back against his headboard.

"School work. I was uh- planning to tell you so you'd be proud of me, I dunno." He mumbled, face going red.

"I'm so proud of you Stan!" I grinned, throwing my arms around him. "So proud."

I felt him shift and then he was hugging me back. He shoved his face into my shoulder and squeezed me harder.

I'm not the biggest fan of hugs, they always feel so awkward to me, but in this point in time I really didn't mind.

He pulled away giving me the chance to smile at him and take his hand.

If I had any confidence at all I would've kissed him right there. Would that have been a total dick move? I mean, he just got broken up with.. Okay, who cares? I didn't do it anyways.

We kept our eyes locked on each other's for a good couple of minutes before he spoke.

"Is Wendy really moving?"

"Uh, yeah, I think." I told him.

"Do you think it's cause of me?" He asked quietly.

"What?! No way! People move for a million different reasons. I think the timing was just a coincidence."

He nodded slowly, like he wasn't really there. Any smile in his face was gone and he was biting his lip.

"Kyle, I'm really sorry." He apologized out of nowhere, keeping his head down.

"Sorry? For what?" I asked, laughing. I immediately went quiet as soon as he started pulling up his sleeve.

"I thought it was my fault, and I was so confused, and she said something to me that's haunting me, and I needed to get out of my head and- and I think I cut too deep, they really hurt and I did this three days ago." He ranted, tears rushing down his face. "Well, I originally did it three days ago, but then I reopened them earlier today. The way you were looking at me, I felt like you already knew, I just had to show you. I'm so sorry."

"Stan calm down. It's okay. I'm not upset with you, it's alright."

"It's not alright, I was doing so good, I shouldn't have-"

"Shhhh, you said you reopened them today, right?"

"Y-yeah." He sniffed.

"Okay, let's go clean these and put some Band-Aids on."

He nodded and followed me into the bathroom.

"Do you ever miss being ten?" He asked while I was grabbing out some peroxide.

"Huh?"

"I mean like, don't you miss how simple it was?" He elaborated.

"Yeah, I do miss it sometimes. Especially the sleepovers we used to have every other day." I laughed, rubbing some peroxide on the cuts.

He laughed and nodded, "God, I can't believe we graduate in two weeks."

"I know right. It feels like I sent in my application for Harvard months ago." (Kyle's got a big brain😎)

"If you get in.. You'll keep in touch, right?"

"Duh! You better come visit me sometime. Bring Kenny." I nudged him playfully.

He smiled, "you're my best friend in the whole world. I don't know what'd I do without you."

He looked down at the Band-Aid that was now on his wrist and started fidgeting with it.

"I think you mean super best friend." I joked.

He looked up at me and laughed, "remember when you called me your SBF and Cartman called us secret boyfriends for weeks?"

"Oh my gosh! How could I forget?"

I took his hand and looked him in the eyes, "not to be cheesy or anything, but if you ever need me Stan, I'm here. I'm only a text or a call away. And really, I'm only two doors away. I don't want you going through life alone."

"But what about when you're not only two doors away?" He asked quietly.

"Hey, we've still got the whole summer, and who knows. Maybe I won't get in. And still, we've got phones now."

"You're going to get in. You're so smart." He told me.

"Look Stan," I set my free hand on his cheek. "We don't have to worry about me going away right now. Right now we're still seniors, we still have a full summer to hang out, we don't have to think about college right now. Okay?"

He nodded, "okay."

"How about we go for a walk?" I suggest.

He doesn't respond right away. His eyes are dashing up and down my face. They rest on my eyes and he finally nods.

"C'mon." I smile, pulling him up.

He throws on his shoes and we leave the house.

Almost immediately he takes my hand.

"Kyle, I love you."

I give his hand a squeeze, "I love you too Stan."

I really really love him.
