For the next couple of months Niall and I have been on countless dates, out of public eye of course. No one knows were in a relationship and we like it that way. If I told my friends, they would want to meet up with the band and I don’t want him to feel like I’m using him. Niall has told his band he’s been hanging out with friends, while I tell mine I’m helping my sister with her new born baby. Things are starting to get harder and harder to conceal.

Niall and I have kept our dates to a three hour minimum so our friends will know that we’re safe and won’t come looking for us. I really like Niall and I’m glad we’re taking it slow. We haven’t shared our first kiss, because we want it to be meaningful.

One day, I was getting ready to meet up with Niall. He told me to wear my best attire so I was rummaging through my closet. I slipped on my favorite red silk dress and grabbed a matching clutch. I smiled at myself in the mirror as I began to curl my hair. I was just about done when I heard a familiar ringtone.

High dive into frozen waves

where the past comes back to life

Fight fear for the selfish pain

And it's worth it every time

Hold still right before we crash

Cause we both know how this ends

our clock ticks till it breaks your glass

And I drown in you aga—

I picked up the phone, realizing it was my best friend’s ringtone.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Hey Beth, what are you doing today?” asked Natalia.

I bit my lip and thought of an excuse. My sister was out of town and the baby, Josh, had become old enough to travel with her. I panicked trying to make up an excuse.

“I’m sick.” I said making my voice sound as hoarse as possible.

I could hear her groan on the other side of the line and sigh.

“Alright, well, I hope you feel better. Should I bring you some soup?” asked Natalia.

“No, I’m fine. My mom is already over and making me some soup.” I said, coughing and hacking, like I was really sick. “I’ll call you back tomorrow, maybe we could go shopping.”

“Okay, I hope you feel better. Bye” said Natalia.

With that she hung up and I sighed in relief. I ran into the bathroom and finished curling my hair. I put on a bit of makeup and some lipstick that matched with my dress. I know what you’re thinking, this girl is crazy, everything matches. Well, that’s how I like my things to be, neat and organized. I pinned a few stray strands of hair with a bobby pin and looked in the mirror. I slipped on my black heels and grabbed my black trench coat. I watched myself walk past the full length mirror and smiled. I smoothed out my dress and waited for Niall to call me.
