"HURRY UP ABIGAIL OR WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"
Today was the first day of school and my mom was on edge, even more on edge than usual. Ever since my mom got her new job as assistant manager at a large corporation, she's been crazier than ever.
"OKAY HOLD ON!" I scream back.
I was checking to make sure my outfit looked okay not too Elementary schoolish. To be honest, I don't really care how I look. I could wear raggedy shorts and an old t-shirt and I would be fine but today I wanted to look nice and make a good first impression. So I decided to wear a plain school skirt and cute looking red and black flannel with my brand new high top converse I brought over the weekend.
As soon as I ran downstairs, I saw Mom in the kitchen packing her lunch "Check your bag and see if you have everything you need for school because I'm not turning back around. When we're on the road, we're on the roa-"
"Okay,okay I get it." I grumble.
I went into the living room to see if I had everything packed in my clear yet ugly book bag. Pencils..... Notebooks... Scrap paper... MY PHONE!!! I totally forgot!
"I'm ready to go." She says, laptop and lunch bag in hand.
"Hold on, you can go to the cat I forgot my phone, I'll meet you at the car." I said already halfway up the stairs
"Okay, MAKE SURE YOU LOCK THE DOOR!" She tells after she closes the front door.
When already upstairs, I sport my phone sitting on the nightstand. UGHHH! No new text messages. I was hoping that Austy or David would wake up early but knowing the both of them they probably won't be up for another hour or so.
I rushed downstairs phone in hand, grabbed my back pack, keys, made sure the door was locked and rushed to Mom's car all in a matter of seconds.
"Made sure you locked the door?" She asked as she started the engine.
"Yeah like twice." I said as I threw my back pack in the back seat while I took my place in the front and started to put on my seatbelt.
As we started to pull away from our house, my mom put on her audio book which gave me a chance to slow down and think. This morning went by so entirely fast and now I was on my way to a brand new school where I didn't know anyone or anything.
"So," she starts to say as she turns of her boring audio book and made a right turn to go on Hibiscus St. "Are u ready for ur First Day of Middle  School?"
I thought about it for a moment and tried to answer as truthfully as possible without explaining too much.  "Eh," I said "it's just school to me, nothing more. Nothing to get overly excited about." But the truth was, I was kind of happy that I was starting school again' new friends, new teachers, new faces, a better start, nothing better I could ask for. But then again I could never admit that to Mom because I'd never hear the living end of it.
"Oh come, on you much be a little excited." She says joyfully "the new start and all."
"Nah, I just think of it as regular school and everything."
"You know there's no Destiny, India and Bailey, right?"
"I know" I said looking out the window.
Destiny, Bailey and India we're my three best friends in Elementary School. We were always attached by the hip. Even though we didn't have any classes together we still managed to have a great friendship.
When we finally got to my school, I grabbed my book bag and scooted out of the car. "Have a great day at school." Mom says with a smile
"Yeah, have a great day at work" I say with a half smile. I closed the car door and watched the car speed away. Then I turned around and faced my new school... Riverbank Middle.
